I think you mean the NHL is a league of parity. Its also a parody, but in a different way, like how bad GMs try to build their team by copycatting winning teams ("the Boston model" or "the Pittsburgh model") without taking their own teams' particular make-up into account.

I was focusing more on this season's trend of being shut down in specific games by top goaltending. The final outcome of the article shows that they tend to get that same goalie back eventually, but you can't hide the fact that if they get shut down early, they're rarely finding a way to crack a hot goalie over those 60 minutes.
