I've viewing it as Stan traded away a 7th round pick for a 5th round pick. #winning - DarthKane
Well said and dumped a bit of salary to boot |

Tampa will win the cup now. The last 3 cups were given to teams that traded for an AHL chi defensemen - RedRevenge
Not guaranteed. Remember Edmonton got Manning from the Hawks; doesn't that give them an equal chance at the Cup? |

Slater Koekoek is a great skater and a solid defender.
Caught in a log jam in Tampa.
More skating and more speed.
This is a deal Tampa made to give Slater an opportunity to play in the NHL. Rutta in Tampa will be 8th or 9th defensemen |

Yeah, he has been playing well, but so was Rutta with Rock, haha. Koekkoek, pronounced Koo Koo. He's injured now, we'll conditioning from a shoulder injury. Sounds like TB is happy to get rid of him. We also gave up a 7th round pick for a 5th round pick. - I Am The Breadman
They are not happy to be rid of him, they are happy he is going somewhere where he can play. He has been up and down and filled in, but there just is no room for him in Tampa.
This trade is more of a professional courtesy to Slater. He is/was well liked in Tampa. They recently brought up Cernak, a big right handed dman. Think a poor mans Colton Paraynko. He has been solid. |

A little memo: the post you quoted was in relation to the article that Resqmed posted. Friedman painted the picture of him being bad.
Just playing devil's advocate, what is the professional courtesy in being traded from a cup contention team, could win, to a team that is not in contention? Also, to another d logjam? |

His aav he's giving out has been bad, term, ehhh, I'm on the fence about. It seems like he sees errors, I agree. I think he's got something up his sleeve too, he wants someone(s) in free agency. That's at least how I'm reading it. |

Not my strong suit, haha. I'm not sure who to go after for trade. I'll leave that to Stan. I'm fine with either Panarin (I don't see him coming) or Stone. Strahlman seems like he could be a good pick-up. Some extra depth, maybe. If Stan just sells at the tdl, I'll be happy. I want Stan to have a good f.a. day, but not go overboard. 1-2 guys is fine. I really want to see what we have in the young guys and draft picks. |

Wow excellent point. Yes I would be happy if i was him. Not sure what happened with him here. Seemed like the Hawks liked him of course when they originally signed him. |

Are you sure? I know nothing about Koekkoek but Tampa isn't about giving away a player for a lesser player then giving up a 5th for a 7th. Surely tampa feel that they won this deal, as do the Hawks. I'm guessing KK didn't get to where Tampa felt he should be, though I'm not sure what they see in Rutta? |

I have a feeling Simmonds resigns with Philly, I could be wrong. I have hopes that Barratt is the pest that Shaw was. Noel could be too on the 4th line/13th. I do agree with you if those guys aren't ready to go, beef up the bottom 6. |

Simmonds is a hard pass. 30 and looking for term. He already is showing signs of the wear and tear. |
