I expected 20-25 goals for roughly 45-50 points.....

If he scored 9 points every 12 games that would be 62 points over 82 games. That's what was expected of him.
- mickel25

I don't expect 60 points out of any Flyer forward who doesn't play on the top unit. TK was great for most of last season, and finished with 47 points.

JVR is pacing for 47 points in 82 games.

Solid 1st, not so much after. Hart was fantastic and the PK was very strong. Also it was nice to see JVR react to his 4th line demotion by playing with some drive and determination.

Flyers outscored Dallas 2-0 in the 2nd period. I'll take that over their usual 2nd period performance.

Would Kadri really help the Flyers though? I mean on pace for 17 goals on one the highest scoring teams this year and is -3. I'm assuming you would send them Couturier so they keep their center depth?
- Glak18

In Kadri's defense it's hard being the 3rd wheel to Matthews/Tavares. However I wouldn't give up Couturier for him.

I'm sure Toronto has some nice pieces on the Marlies. I'm not trading Simmonds for just A pick.

62 points is a bit high I agree. 30 goals is really the expectation I had for him. Don't really care about the overall point total.

Nope, I'm a fan of the Flyers....I actually care how players play during the game to help the team win. I don't go by boxscores that only show a small portion of the players performance.

Also I was going by what the other poster typed. 9 points in 12 games. I didn't check his actual stats.

I know this horse has been beaten to a pulp. But I have a question for Bill or whom ever. Lebrun wrote an article in the Athletic today about Simmonds and Ferland as power forward rentals...The asking price for Ferland was a 1rst and a prospect and he expected Simmonds if made available to fetch more then that...He listed 4-5 teams that would have interest.... Perhaps we have under estimated his value?
- landros 2

If we get a 1st plus a quality prospect for Simmonds, I’ll be thrilled. Could happen, seems there’s always a GM or 2 of a contender that goes brain dead around deadline time.

Yeah its so weird how when you look at a basic stat line then compare the player to how they actually played for the full 60 minutes and realize things don't add up.

The first period for him was really bad, I mean really bad with the turnovers and bad plays.

Then you look at how he actually got his points..

Assist: A blind whip around pass in the slot to TK for the deflection. Ok if you want to assume he actually knew what he was doing the whole time I will give you that. I mean he has done the same play a dozen times this season with no goal scored and the puck turned over, but this time is different because it ended up as a goal. Not to mention you can actually see him blindly whip the puck around THEN look to see if someone was there.

Goal: He taps his stick for the puck, Giroux feeds the puck through the crease, the assumption is JvR's stick touched the puck even though I can't see a change of direction which has the puck missing the net by feet, but luckily a defenseman is there to have his skate in the way. Ok let's assume he meant to deflect the puck to ricochet off the skate of the defenseman and have it go in the net, awesome goal.

Correction: I looked again and saw the puck just goes through JvR's legs, it was Khudobin who did the work when he kicked the puck out to have it ricochet off the skate to go in net. So I will assume JvR farted which caused the play to happen.

Now you have the 3rd period where he had a couple more cough ups of the puck that led to chances for Dallas. Then look at all the chances the Flyers had to put the game away...notice JvR is involved in NONE of them.

But hey 2 points....boxscore > gameplay

- Glak18

Last night a clear replay showed that JvR definitely deflected the puck. It was puck luck that it went in but he definitely got a piece of it.

Did you guys see Ek post the Flyers are going to be buyers, and are going after Stone and Anderson? Saying 2 roster players plus prospect plus pick.

I'll pass at that price.

I'll take Stone in the right deal but I am not interested in Anderson at all. We already have 5 goalies that are mediocre. Why add a sixth?

Anderson would be a good person to split time with Hart for the next 2 years.

If taking Anderson got the Stone deal done I would consider it. I just think there are other options.

No, you can keep your JvR fan club card.

We have different outlooks on the game, you look at what their boxscores says while I look at how they got their goals and assists, turnovers for chances or goals, defensively coverage, effort and you know things that help successful teams win.

There are actually people who can watch a player have a hideous game, be responsible for multiple goals allowed, but score the OT winner and say they had a great game....seriously those people exist.

Yeah I made the correction, he got a small tip to deflect it right into the pad where it got kicked out.

It’s not surprising whatsoever. We all figured fletcher was hired as a puppet for Scott. Well there goes our 1st rounder. You know Ottawa wants in on the first round.

Yeah you keep minoring in lame sarcasm, but the fact your whole argument is based off 9 points in 13 games and that proves he plays great says it all. Obviously the Flyers need to trade Giroux because JvR is what makes this team tick.

The good thing is if we deal now we can send Simmonds to Ottawa....who may have future plans for Simmonds as a leader of a young team or they can easily flip him for picks. It just better NOT include our 1st this year.

To Ott: Simmonds, Farabee, 2020 1st, Elliot

To Phi: Stone, Anderson

OR we flip Simmonds now for a 1st and use it in a Stone package ourselves. Fine with that. They are not touching our 2019 1st

I never really stated an argument. Just pointed out that his point production (which you listed) was above what could be expected. I never mentioned any other part of his game. Of course I don't want players that just score and do not play well in other facets of the game.
