Seattle gets the same expansion draft deal as VGK, I think - let's see how well their front office / coaching staff do. - StLBravesFan
Could be wrong but I also believe that Vegas is exempt from exposing players in the expansion draft.
If true, not really a fan of that since Seattle is expected to start playing 4 years after Vegas has started. That seems like enough time for the Golden Knights to establish who their core is and be just as active in trades, free agency, and of course the draft as any other team.
Just 1-2 years between expansions, then that makes sense. But 4 years doesn't seem reasonable. |

Huh? Loosen the foil hat up a bit PE, it really gets you sometimes. This isn't the WWE, as much as we all know you like to think so, outcomes are not predetermined. The Knights may have been given some concessions that previous expansion teams were not, but they still had to produce on the ice and NO team was laying down for them. - TheTrob
As hockey fan first and Blackhawks fan second, I truly enjoyed seeing hard working outcasts team succeed in the league.Knights are succeeding due to fast style and hard work and they got no special favors.
Their team was coached with sharp contrast to Q and his maintenance days and teams overall 'lets save our energy for playoffs(supposedly) attitude. I hope Knights find continued success and build on their fan base in South. I might be in minority but I wish success to all Southern teams as this will lead to better growth of the sport and support base.
Colliton may not be deserving to be head coach and team not as talented but cannot deny they are trying hard, like Detroit of 2010-2015 years.

You are correct. I read about this recently as well. Makes sense. They're still just trying to build up their system depth. Not fair to then take more players from them after a short period of time.
Also food for thought, the timing of when the Hawks sign guys to ELCs should be of note due to the fact that when they do the expansion draft any player that is on an ELC is not eligible and does not need to be protected. |

If Toronto wants Keith really bad, think they would give up Kadri? Or is that too in the now and doesn't project for when we are set up to contend again? - LAHawk
Possibly. If Keith is traded, don't think a veteran will be part of the package coming back to Chicago. I imagine a package of 1st and 2nd round draft picks and high-end prospects. If there is a roster player in the deal, a younger one with upside or on the cusp of being in their prime years would be preferred.
I do like Kadri, though, or another 3C candidate like a Nelson, Coyle, Jenner, or Dzingel. |

Yeah, I agree, that's some b.s. That team should be held to the same rules. I wonder if the Seattle gm will be as ruthless as the Vegas gm. I give a lot of credit to how McPhee handled everything. Then the rest goes to Gallant. |

If my numbers are correct with the roster, this would be to do with Joki being activated and playing tonight not that they would be a roster spot short

Didn't Buffalo just buy out a player (name escapes me). I don't see why Seabs and the team could not do that, both parties just have to agree to do it. - powerenforcer
So you think Seabs would walk away from the $28 mil owed to him on his contract? |

ROSTER NEWS: The #Blackhawks have placed defenseman Gustav Forsling (upper torso) on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 5.
Really interested to see what the pairings are. I would like to see Joki and Keith back together.
Bottom pairing (if Seabrook is out) would be Gustafsson/Davidson.. Yeesh. - Chunk
Not sure what purpose that serves? Now we have a 22 man roster instead of 23. |

I'd guess it'll be:
Keith - Gus
Dahlstrom - Murphy
Davidson - Joki |

I think he did clear waivers but they didn't reassign him yet. I'm not sure how long that waiver clearance lasts before they'd need to do it again. |

I'm not sure either. Thanks for clarifying though, because I thought I had heard Davidson's name tied to waivers. |

Ugh, really hope they don't mess with Joki. He's been playing so well. He and Keith with Murphy and Dahlstrom form two pairs that are actually good at defense. You can then shelter Gus a bit. |

I like that better too. Gus gets extra TOI quarterbacking the first unit PP. But JC separated Keith and Joki and put Gus with Keith before the WJHC so I doubt he'd go back to it in Joki's first game back. We'll see. |

Also agree with Matt that these pairings seem to be the better way to go. Gustafsson needs sheltered ES minutes but grant him as much PP time as he can take on. Or at the very least, let Jokiharju quarterback the 2nd unit. |

Did they finally shake up the top 6 forwards yet? Like, take Anisimov off of that Kane line! |

I would like to see them move ADB up to the Toews line and put Saad on the Kane line. Let Arty play on the third line with Kampf and Perlini |

If I had to handicap it, He is not getting traded unless he asks for it since I don't think anyone would overpay for him (which is the one of the few reasons I would trade him).
Not likely, but an idea... being that he was messed with recently:
To Calgary:
Keith
To Chicago:
Frolik
You are welcome DarthKane.
