I agree completely with your point. Anismov isn't worth holding onto , if you look at his time here he has had lots of injuries not sure what some people are missing.

Saad and Keith carry the most value in terms of any return.

I'm just curious , but I thought I read somewhere Chicago was pondering the idea of sliding boyquist into a winger role?

IIRC, It was Hunter on his junior team that asked Chicago if they could try Boqvist as a forward, but the Hawks want him to stay as a defenseman for now.

You're entitled to your opinion but so am I and although I readily admit Keith isn't a true #1 d-man anymore because both his defensive and offensive play have declined from a few years ago - he is still skates well and is a pretty good defender. He would be a solid upgrade as a top-4 defender on most Cup contending teams - including Toronto. Play him 5v5 and PK and he improves Toronto's chances to win the Cup.

I don't think Keith would command a 1st and a prospect because he's 35 with 4 years remaining but I don't think it's unreasonable to think he would net a good young player in return, especially given the cap situation Toronto will be facing this summer.

Even if you don't consider Keith a #1 anymore, he is most definitely a top pairing D-man on most teams, especially for those looking to solidify their back end. Sure, teams like the Sharks, Preds and a few other deep Defensive teams don't slot him in the top pair, but they aren't looking to trade for D. Teams like TOR, COL and others are specifically looking for D.

Regardless of age a top pairing D man is a top pairing d-man. Take a look at the salaries and ages. Suter, Byfuglien, Giordano, Burns, Boychuck are all 33 or older and have higher, some significantly, cap hits than Keith. Keith is one of the lower paid top pairing D in the league.

If you trade him you are getting a "sure thing" prospect and a low first / high second round pick, or a High first round pick and a "solid" prospect.

Realistically speaking, he has Zero leverage. He is an RFA with a handful of NHL games under his belt and not even a full season in the AHL. If he plays well for the rest of the season, I would expect his next contract will probably be a 2-3 year deal at around $1.25-1.5 mil.

My guess is around 2 mill for 2yrs if the success endures for the rest of the season. When there are no other realistic now options, he does gain leverage. Continued success could mean an offer sheet from another desperate team. Hammer got a big offer sheet from the Sharks, also.

Kane is most definitely not overpaid. Still produces as one of the top players in the league.
Anisimov is exactly where he should be based on where he plays his minutes and production.
Seabrook is both over paid and has too much term on his deal.
Kruger is overpaid, but his deal is expiring
Toews based on this years production is comparable or better than others in the same range, probably slightly overpaid.

I agree that AA is getting paid his market rate, he just makes too much for what he does on the Blackhawks, IMHO. It isn't really his fault, he's doing his job, but with Strome now, he's somewhat redundant and a luxury they can't really afford.

I wouldn't mind Kruger coming back for about $1m or $1.5m, if he'd do it. I just wish he'd shoot more.

Toews is playing well this year, less overpaid than the past couple. But I don't want them to move him, he's my favorite. Kane needs to stay too. Keith, it's up to him but I hope he'd like to stay.

Okay, well I mean I guess its worth a shot to see how he can to do make him more versatile in the Hawks soon to be crowded backend on D. Idk how I feel about doing that to the kid right after he's coming off the Juniors, where he played very well, with the goal being for that to happen to boost his confidence, but what happens if they try him there and he struggles? Aren't you just at square one again? I wouldn't mind seeing him practice there here and there to get more comfortable there and maybe at the end of the season give it a shot or give him a full offseason of practicing both sides so you can try it out next year

Exactly. Keep him on the right D and set him up for success.
