Ha!
Like I said yesterday, Nicolas Hague, VGK's 2nd this year, Dallas' 2nd next year and either Brad Hunt or the 5th round pick back the Habs gave them, literally, for Schlemko! Their choice! |

i don't see them moving Petry. why would a bubble team hang on to its older stars like Weber and Price but trade away secondary players like Petry and Shaw just to get a little bit worse? it's not like those guys are bringing much value back in a trade. |

Petry is not going anywhere.
I'd be more than happy to trade Shaw, despite his strong play this season.... but I doubt we get much for him. |

Only reason to move him would be cap room which they don't really need.... |

I think Petry would bring back something decent. If the offer was good enough, you take it....
But it would create a pretty big hole for at least the next 2-3 years. |

Not worried about the next 2 years... and it only creates a big hole if Weber is injured |

they're secondary players so not a ton. but it's more... what are you doing as an organization? if you're going down the road of trading your productive veterans, trade the primary ones too. |

At some point we'll have to worry about the next 2 years though because we havent been worrying about the next 2 years for like 20 years now.... |

This isn't true... they made the conference final at least twice in that time, they were not a powerhouse by any means but they were not rebuilding |

Because they have to let a few years of those contracts go by before doing that... Petry, Tatar and Shaw wont handcuff organizations for the better part of a decade |

Both times though they overachieved and most went back to saying "hope they don't think they're good now and stop planning for the future"

totally disagree. by the time their contracts are less of an issue, they'll likely be washed up. their value as players won't get higher than it is rigt now, especially with Price returning to top-10ish form. additionally, since the Habs have turned into the Carolina Hurricanes (minus the 21st century success) they can afford to hold some of the cap hit. |
