"Colin Delia with the Stealia"

"Toews with game-winner as the Islanders defeat the Blackhawks"

"Hawks give up 50 shots, lose again and still think they are a playoff team"

Here are a few fake headlines off the top of my head. I thought it would be fun to dive into more top stories from Blackhawks past (fiscal 2018), present and what the future headlines will read for this Chicago team.

You have St. Louis, Los Angeles, Ottawa, and Phoenix as definite sellers. Columbus is either all in or a seller with both Panarin and Bobrovsky as UFA's. Rangers are looking to get rid of Zuccharello and probably even Kevin Hayes (UFA). There is a lot of inventory this year available for sale, so I wouldn't expect the trash we want to sell as getting a high return

Great, creative piece, JL. Your first headline made me laugh in a corny way, same with the Wonderful Life reference.

I knew Delia's run wasn't forever, but he's still looking great. I wonder if he will be the first next year, and keep a back-up internally? Maybe go out and get one?

I'm really wondering about Stan's tdl and July 1st route for the team? The biggest tells for the direction of the team. Same path or slowly upward?

I won't mind Kane being the only one for all-star weekend. It is crazy to think about him being one of the oldest there.

I doubt a core piece moves. Kane and Toews are not going anywhere. The only way you could move Seabs is taking back another bad contract. Crow with his concussion issues cannot be moved (other than to LTIR).

Keith is the interesting piece. Still a solid top 4 defender. Playoff experienced. Manageable cap hit. Cost controlled for 4 more years. Although will be 39 in the last year of the contract, he still could be moving well enough to stay in the top 4. I am perfectly fine with keeping him, but if you get a sweet offer like a #1 draft pick and an "A" level prospect you have to consider it.

AA may get you a 3rd round pick at TDL or before the draft. Kruger a 7th round pick. Kunitz, Rutta, Martinsen, Davidson won't get you anything.

Damn, 3 blogs of content into this one. Nicely done, JC............. Being the most important position in sport I think the headline going forward is Delia, depending on Crow's health. Gotta give this kid the net to see if he has it between the ears long term to be a #1 cuz it seems he physically does. Leading the AHL in SPG this yr we see is no fluke but gauging what he has between the ears will take an extended period of starts.

Even if Crow comes back this yr or next at 34 yrs old he's only signed thru next yr. Delia at 24 is an RFA next yr. ....... Hawks need to handle this correctly on all counts as we are talking about the #1 goalie, possibly for 7-8-9 more yrs.

I'd like to see Forsling sent down (though I think he'd be claimed).

There's clearly a lot of potential with him, but his confidence seems to be easily shaken. Would like to see him work that out in the A and come back as a new man. Let him go down there and string some really solid games together before bringing him back up.

According to a news article yesterday, AA (who just provided a list of 10 teams) and Saad are most likely to be moved.

Just continuing from last blog. Goalie signings don't have to be expensive when you are talking backups. The Hawks went out and overpaid Ward as a one year stop gap because they wanted someone with experience, but they didn't have to. They could 100% go for a young backup or they could sign a cheaper vet.

Look no further than the guy who beat us yesterday Robin Lehner is on a 1.5 million dollar deal and has been outstanding. How about Laurent Brossoit, who signed with the Jets for pretty much minimum. The Hawks could also make a minor deal for a goalie who is RFA and sign someone. There are other cheaper options for a backup and really 3 million is pretty much maximum. If the Hawks pay that much for a backup, then they have failed IMO.

They need to be smart with their money and they can really improve the depth of the team. The money they have available could go a long way. It looks like there will be a lot of options this summer, so they just need to find the right deal and avoid the overpay.

The Hawks will probably have plenty of cap space to sign one big time forward or defender and one of the top 3 picks in the draft.

Add Panarin and Podkolzin, have Delia continue to play at a high level, have the bevy of young defenders develop in Juniors or at the Rock, see Entwistle, Kurashev, Barret progess, have Colliton take the team through the rest of this season and training camp and next year could be a lot more interesting.

They can still send him down this season, but next year he would have to pass through waivers.

Agree with you on the interesting part. There are so many unknowns it makes it more exciting to see what will happen. Some of the young guys need more time, but likely we see 1 or 2 make the jump for real (I think that is pretty average). Also maybe Stan goes fishing in Europe some more. Not all of those guys pan out, but some are okay. Like Kahun who is giving us some depth.

Stupid move! He still had some value to the team and could be retained if we demoted Sikura who is contributing nothing. Martinsen will be claimed by someone.

EDIT: Unless Bowman is officially going into tank mode.

Marty on waivers? Sure why not. But lets keep Kunitz around??? Guy formed a solid 4th line that could crash/cycle. The journey to stay pampers soft continues. The way JC is handling this roster? The entire organization is schizophrenic right now.

In this scenario, the Hawks sign a #2 for 1.5 mil, who is their starter? Crow, Delia? If Crow comes back healthy Delia is the #2 or goes back to Rockford and they sign a #2?

At this point I don't see Delia not a Hawk next yr.

Of course. Get rid of the guy who leads the team in hits (despite not playing regularly) and is a solid fourth liner that crashes the net and has offensive upside/chemistry with his linemates

Martinsen is a bad hockey player who is 28 years old. Has horrible advanced stats (at least how I read them).

I'd be shocked if anyone claimed him. He is a useless plug who serves no purpose.

Agree on all counts. ........ Although Sikura has nice fancies he's not close to passing the eye test. I think he goes down once Caligula can climb over or tunnel under the Wall.

I think Sikura goes down too once Caligula gets here. Martinsen is a nobody who isn't going to suddenly develop into anything.

Play Hayden the rest of the year and if he continues to suck then cut ties with him.

Problem is we still cant get any consistency on any level. Sometimes simple hockey is best. Marty on the 4th line played a simple game. We need simple. He doesnt have to score. He just needs to bring energy, hit and provide a breather for the other lines. Some times its better to leave schit alone. Friggin get rid of Kunitz. He has done NOTHING but eat a paycheck. At least Marty does something out there.

I disagree. There's been a number of games where he's created solid scoring opportunities and helped the lowest line be a threat. He's willing to play physical and go to the net.

He should have been a mainstay on that fourth line IMO. Don't care that he's 28.
