No thoughts on the flames taking the best team in the NHL to 7 round shootout?

Yes there is a talent gap between the Devils and the top teams, but it was also there last year. The poor road record and 5v5 defensive breakdowns are largely psychological. The entire team needs to be seeing a sports psychologist.

The thing with the Devils is that as long as they are "only" 8 or so points back of the final wild card they will pretend that its nothing for a team to win 4 in a row and everything is peachy yet completely ignore the fact they came pretty close to being in the very basement of the nhl and the season is no longer young and things should not still be figured out at this point.

I have also said before though that they will say there are no major issues with the roster, just what ? A billion tiny tweaks? that basically equate to the team having a major issue lol.

I think its just another case of finding a way to make it look like they are better then they really are. Kind of like when we had Jagr that team had 0 talent on it but found ways to control the game and act as if they should of had better fate but they just had no talent.

NJ would need a top two shutdown guy as well as a top two points guy... our top 4 D are all 3-5s... in offence... 3-6 in defence. Only Lovejoy, Vatanen, and Greene are actually capable of 3-4 shutdown... for all the flak Lovejoy takes.

1-2D are really hard to get your hands on quickly... you're basically hoping one of your guys develop that way. Just imagine if the Devils drafted Provorov... that problem would be half solved, though he's not having the greatest season.

Shero's got some work to do. Other teams aren't giving away big minutes d so Ray has to survive with skaters and a team that basically tries to outscore the other team.

Skating D are fine if all your forwards are forechecking Quenneville/Zacha types, but they're also a bunch of skating forwards.

Of course this year is a write-off already... but the next free agency should be real interesting. NJ has a lot of cap space to try to attract someone.

Agree on Bratt. He needs his own line with a shooter.

Santini playing well. Boyle and Seney also....

Hall- Zajac - Palmieri
Boyle - Nico -Bratt
Mojo - Zacha - Quenneville
Wood -Seney -Noesen

The interesting part is that we again won’t spend poop in free agency and everyone will say how smart we are and we will continue to blow monkeys.
