Justin Lowe: Consecutive Wins: Cam Speaks and Finding Their Identity
After an embarrassing 7-3 loss at home vs. the San Jose Sharks on Sunday, it was Cam Ward who stepped up and called out the team.

Don Granato mentioned this between periods as Eddie and Pat interviewed him. Then Pat Foley brought it back up at the end of the game as the Hawks won 3-2 vs. the Stars – their first consecutive wins since October 23-25 and their first since Colliton took over.

Cam Ward is a tremendous person.

Is he a great goalie? no.

Is he a GOOD goalie by NHL standards? Also no.

But he's a great person and you know he's going to battle for you every night, no matter what the standings say.

That said, it shouldn't be up to him to be kicking asses in that locker room.

Perhaps the most enjoyable game all year. Cam was a rock, Kane's line was buzzing, special teams worked, withstood several tough Dallas pushbacks, Dahlstrom and Murphy looking solid, Kahun and Kampf playing well, Gus as mentioned may have been MVP of game, still liking strome, Perlini not sure but boy he can sure skate, Seabrook minutes severely reduced which looks like limited ice and good matchups help him as he didn't look worn out last night.

Would like to do THIS more often this year.

Well, thanks for that BINGO!

Aaaaanyway...

Gus had a hell of a game last night as did Ward.

While they are still in scramble drill mode once in awhile, they aren't burned as much by their mistakes, which means they aren't giving up on plays like they did earlier in the year. I was a little upset with Kane on the first goal as he skated right by Seguin without touching him. One little stick lift and he doesn't get that shot off.

The second goal was just weird. Looked like Ward might have thought Murphy was going to clear and Murph thought Ward was going to cover.

Anyway, great win to go into a tough place and look good. Let's do it again tonight!

I don't know if I can call it turning the corner, but they are a team giving it their all for 60 minutes. That makes them fun to watch.

I expect Ward in night tonight, also.

I'm not sure how they will fare against the Aves. They are tough. I hope for a win, but I won't be shocked at a defeat. I just want to see another 60 minute effort.

Any word on Murphy, is he good to go? I know Dahlstrom came back in, but is he good to go as well?

This elbowing and concussion bs needs to stop. To quote John Wayne, "This is getting re-gd-diculous!"

This year has been total poop and the boys played great last night, yet there you are letting us know Ward sucks and he should shut up. No one here said he was the next Patrick Roy, but he played superb goalie last night and thus I take exception to bashing him after he played so well.

Did that other thread where you for no reason brought up Jonathan Toews (in an obvious attempt to bash him) flicker out?

Maybe you should focus on your sad sack franchise, who are a grand total of 3 points ahead of the Hawks.

Strome reminded me of Schmaltz last night when he threw the puck away on his breakaway.

I agree with you on 3 of 4. You and I might have different understanding of NHL standards.

however you gotta wonder where the so called "core" leadership has been...yes toews has been playing well through most of this beat down...

Strome had a few goofy moments last night, but I still thought he was pretty good. That line was really good I thought and did ANYONE notice how good Anisimov looked? I am far from the President of his fan club, but wow I thought he was noticeable all over the ice.

Hopefully some of our posters get off Gustafsson's back for a while now. Even with his recent play some were still wanting to see him traded in the last blog. Like wake up. The guy makes $1.2M through next year so let's just give him away.

It was ugly, and intent to injure. The key is, Murphy did not have the puck. So it is now fine to make contact with ANY PLAYER on the ice? The league is in trouble if they are going to allow that. (Well they have).

It was nice to see Saad play with some giddy-up early in the game. Liking Murph-Dahl pairing (although it sounds like an AM radio morning drive show from '77).

Good game by the lads. Ward is hilarious to watch but seems like a really good dude. If Crow is done I feel like goving him 2.5 to teach Delia how to be a pro and be an ok back up is a good move.

Of course after I spend a week beating up Gus he plays a very good game. Lol.

DeBrincat has one heck of a release wow.

You could set the over under for tonight's game at 8.5.

Looks like some of the guys are starting to get it but i still think they will lose their fair share of games. However, if they can keep enough positives to build on then things aren't looking completely hopeless a year or two down the line.

19 moved into murphy; he knew he was coming..it was not incidental; elbow and interference...

kunitz got a 5 min major and game; our guys get clocked and its play on...

my guess the front ref was watching the puck and he was on the offside; however the back ref had a clear view of this..

Bettman and the NHL hate the Blackhawks so nothing will be done, but you already know this.

Thanks, Bogie, and PE as well for your synopsis.
He looks over his shoulder to make sure his elbow lands right on his beak. Definitely intentional, and penalty ++

I haven’t followed Ward’s career very much - I know he won a Cup in Raleigh back in the day - but it certainly seems that Bingo (who, BTW, I consider to be a valuable contributor to this community) is basically correct - not very good numbers, not very good results with the Hurricanes.

Does he have the ability to go more than two or three games without blowing up?

Is he going to be part of the Hawks’ future Cup runs?

I don’t think so.

It should be be Delia’s turn at bat...uhhh...in the blue paint.

I also don’t think Bingo said Ward should shut up - more implied that Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook - the presumed (and lettered) team leaders should have been more out front on this.

Let’s stop bashing posters who present opposing views.

I missed the game. Was the second line Strome on wing AA at center and Kane on Wing? or Cat Strome Kane?

If no one else is standing up and getting mad, then I have no problem with a 14 year vet speaking up. I would say it's those outbursts from the quieter players that gets everyone's attention.

Pretty surprising and disappointing that none of the 4 on ice officials made a call on that play. It's not like it was behind the play- Pitlik clearly interfered and threw a blatant elbow that presumably broke Murphy's nose. Should have been at least a double minor, no?
