I think Dzingel will be traded, I mean no way we are able to sign him.
Ceci will never be traded. I think our roster next year would be great if it would be like below:

Melnyk has probably appeared at more home games so far this season than he did all last year. He is in town for more than the Sens' games.

The NCC has decided not to extend the term of the current chair. The new chair voted against Ruddy's 900 Albert project. Ruddy is the partner that Melnyk is suing. The heart of Melnyk's legal action is the claim that 900 Albert is such a huge project it threatens his financial viability in LeBretton. He claims Ruddy should have included him (Melnyk) and 900 Albert within the overall LeBretton partnership.

So, even if he was not a part of the decision to change the NCC chair, Melnyk has had something of a minor victory. Is it part of creating a softer landing for his departure? It would be a wonderful Christmas gift for all Sens supporters...but, we won't know until the January NCC board meeting.

Ceci isn't getting traded (sadly)
Melnyk isn't selling (sadly)
Why hire more scouts? We'd become the Montreal Expos of the NHL. Scouting and drafting great prospects only to lose them a the end of their ELC. And really, why wouldn't you offer sheet some of the Sens prospects. The owner won't match that's for sure.

I'm certainly not buying a Sens jersey with any hot young rookie's name on it....they'll be gone....and right quick.

Ottawa fans really need to let it go about the draft pick. It's not Ottawa's pick anymore, it's Colorado's, so who cares. Finishing last wouldn't be catastrophic since it just means all the rest of their picks would be higher. The trade also wasn't that big of a disaster because either Duchene is going to be a Senator for pretty much the rest of his career or they're going to get back a decent return of the deadline.

That's seriously your number one Christmas wish?

I’m not sure letting Guy Boucher go accomplishes anything. He just gets to work with what Dorion gives him. Under a different coach, the results would be similar. This roster is just not good enough and there have been contract mistakes which handcuffed Boucher. Let him ride out the year and see what the summer brings.

Issue with this team is management and ownership. It’s been beaten to the ground. Nice to see guys like Chabot and Dzingle break out and Stone and Duchene show they are point per game players, but it means nothing if this team has zero vision/plan to build a contending team.

My wish would be for the NHL to back the franchise more and try to get to the bottom of the Melnyk garbage. Bettman said at the Seattle announcement that 2 main pillars of a successful organization are steady ownership and a state-of-the-art arena. Time to back what you say for existing franchises now that expansion is basically set for the foreseeable future. Bettman has said before he wants a new arena for the Sens so he can’t be happy about the latest developments.

Of course any coach wouldn't make this team good. But they were supposed to be a contender last season and were literally second last. So I don't think that Boucher is the right coach moving forward, and there's no reason re-signing him, especially if the players are tuning him out.

i agree, it won't be over anytime soon, this counter-claim is going to make it last forever, but its a step in the right direction. Ottawa needs a new owner bad.

Sens need to burn it to the ground for 2020 Draft

With this owner and the lack of supporting cast, the Sens should AT LEAST trade Duchene and why not Mark Stone as well.

The Sens should try and trade both to make a team a cup favorite and get a lot of prospects and a bad contract back. What team(s) do you think make most sense??

My guess is the basic settlement was established when the partnership was first formed two years ago. All of the rattling we are seeing now is really about how much money actually flows into Melnyk's pocket. Melnyk is suing for $700m and Trinity is counter suing him for $1b.

In all likelihood, this is probably about another $25m or so of extra cash that Melnyk wants. Think of this as the equivalent to the final stages of the Nylander negations of a few weeks ago. Both sides have to go to the deadline. Somebody will blink on the last day....or, they will set another deadline.

It would be a huge disappointment for everyone in the city if this does not get finalized. However, it will be a financial disaster for Melnyk if he cannot get a deal completed. This is how Melnyk's law suit was presented by his lawyer. He is saying, so what is your counter?

So, is RendezVous finished in Melnyk’s eyes?

“The claim sets out the concerns of CSMI and Mr. Melnyk, and really we have to wait and see how the process plays out,” Brush said. “I can’t say to you now one way or the other where Mr. Melnyk considers RendezVous. What we have to see is what response we get back and where things go from here.”

I agree with burning it down...but, it needs to be a controlled fire over a few years. My heart wants them to resign Duchene but my head says the better decision is to trade him to a contender (Buffalo or Boston). Same with Stone and Dzingle. I will be pleased if we resign them, I will be okay if we trade them. Just have to trust Dorion to do the right thing.

Judging by this response I suspect you feel coaching was not important in the Conference Final run which in turn made the Sens a contender supposedly as you say? Just curious.

While “ubergate” showed some players calling out coaching staff, they named other coaches rather than Boucher, I believe. Something that happens on every NHL team, just not normally on camera unsuspectingly.

Boucher is the furthest thing wrong with this team. I’ll never understand people complaining about 3rd and 4th line decisions thinking it will make a difference if we dress a younger player. If a young player is projected to play top 6 minutes, they should not be playing on a 3rd or 4th line. This is precisely how you ruin young players. Let them season in the AHL and then play them in a proper spot in the NHL. You very rarely have guys like Chabot and Tkachuck able to slot into the NHL at their age.

This franchise is a tire fire right now. A new coach will do next to squat. There is no vision or desire to ice a winning team from ownership and management right now. The coach is just an easy target for them to place blame on.
