Flames looked about average compared to other teams playing the Blues after they have an emotional win. BS penalty in overtime but Blues score shorthanded to win last game? Blues fans know the team isn't going to show up next game, no reason to watch.

Yeah, I was more impressed with how awful the Blues looked in the first yesterday than anything the Flames were really doing. It almost felt like Berube said, "Hey, let's try something new. What'll you think will happen if we just kinda let them do whatever they want in the offensive zone and leave all the defending up to Allen." They weren't even trying to take the puck away.

Rittich was solid, as always, when is he going to be named the starter?? Gio, Lindholm, Johnny, Tkachuk, the D in general were great, we don't miss Valimaki due to Kylington's strong play. Czarnik was decent and deserves to stay in the lineup consistently. I don't mind Quine either. Hathaway and Jankowksi were fine.

However, Rychel and Neal were not great. Neal has had one good game in his last 20, seriously. This team now misses Bennett and Frolik, but they keep winning against teams they should beat. Now do this against SJ, ANA, EDM, VAN, WPG... These are the teams we need to beat consistently to be considered an elite team capable of doing damage in the playoffs!!!

GFG!

Neal is shooting at around 4.0% his career is 11.8%. He is in his worst slump ever. Relax, we're winning, we dont need him shooting 15% right now but will later. Tarasenko is in a horrific slump as well shooting way below his career average & low & behold the trade rumours. Typical slap stick trade the bum when these guys get in a cold streak. It happens. As for these other teams we are 1-1 with Ana, 1-1 with Edm, 1-1 with Vanc 1-0 with Winnipeg & I think 0-1 with San jose that we probably should have won. Wow, no one had expectations of Flames doing as well as we have been & it seems it still not good enough for you??? What the heck??? Life's too short just enjoy the ride.

Yeah ok. I watched the game & we looked & skated pretty damn good. Have you ever heard of score effects? I think the average part was because the game was pretty well over after the first & if we kept up the pace it would have been way worse of a beating, which was pointless & many teams sit back. Your comment sounds like sour grapes to me.

Exactly! Guy just can’t get off the Neal $hit train.

I'm so not used to how well this team is playing that I'm just waiting for the collapse like last year.
Definitely hoping it never comes. This team looks like a real West contender.

I just keep thinking of how many people whined about Hamonic last year, and yet here we are with one of the best top 4 in the league. At this point I can't imagine the pressure Neal is putting on himself and that in no way, shape or form is likely helping his confidence. Maybe someone can bank one in off his a$$ and the flood gates will finally open.

This team has arrived. I've drawn comparisons to Chicago in other years, it's like when Toews and Kane hit their prime, they had other pieces--like we do-- that solidified their lineup, such as Ladd, Hossa, Buff etc...who compare to guys like Backs, Tkachuk, Gio.

All fans should take a breath and enjoy the fruits of the organization's labor.

Man look at the Chaisson of this year compared to his tenure with us. Confidence goes a long way. People seem to need a reason to female dog. FFS we are top 3 in the league!

That line change which led to the first goal by St. Louis was almost as bad as the one against Anaheim in the playoffs.
I felt so bad for Anderssen and Rittich.

Like I said in the last comments, I think Neal is still messed up from that open net he missed in the cup finals.
I don’t think it has anything to do with anything else. Everyone saying he’s too slow for the Flames needs to remember that Vegas was one of the fastest teams in terms of transitional scoring last year. Neal was fine there, he’ll be fine here as soon as he gets over what’s bothering him

I think Neal will be fine, its like with Harmonic last year but look at him now. It's crazy how tight the Pacific Division is this year. The Ducks seem to keep winning which surprises me.

Jesus Christ this team is Top 3 in the entire NHL and there's still people female doging about everything. Neal is in a slump no doubt about it but he hasn't been nearly as bad as a lot of you seem to think he has. He has a terrible shooting percentage right now compared to what he normally has but that's one of those things that tend to even out. He's getting chances he just can't buy a goal right now.

We're not going 82-0 and no player is going to score in all 82 games. Relax and be excited for the best season the Flames have had in a really long time. Let's enjoy the ride.

Neal and Smith are only giving the rest of the league a chance here

If they were both going all year? add another 5 wins?

I know Smith has cost multiple games

The game being pretty well over after the first is pretty standard, nothing special. After big, emotional, "we've finally turned the corner wins," Blues have lost 7-4, 5-1, 4-0, 8-4, 6-1, 6-1. and now 7-2, all in games it was clear in the firs 5 minutes only one team showed up to play, just like this one. The Flames did exactly what everyone else in the league did when given the opportunity. This month, both Vancouver and Arizona have beaten the Blues with the same goal differential as the Flamess. Destroying the Blues early then relaxing and still winning by 5 is average in this sort of game. It's not sour grapes, it's just what anyone who has been watching the Blues this season knows to be true.
