What do you guys think of adding Wayne Simmonds at the deadline? Flyers are probably going to want a prospect close to the NHL rather than a pick. Simmonds and a conditional pick for Liljegren? Condition being whether you re-sign Simmonds or not.

Quotes not working.

Would be happy to add Simmonds if the cap allows it, but no way do we give up a top prospect. Maybe a 2nd round pick?

That would be a hard pass for Philly. Guy is regularly on pace for 30 goals a year with a disfunctional Flyers team.

Just a thought. I definitely think he'll be one of the big "names" available at the deadline.

You won't get a Liljegren for an upcoming UFA.

Nylander may have been worth Sanheim, remember?

I think Liljegren and Sandin are almost untouchable. The Leafs will need young, inexpensive options on defence in the near future.

Perhaps a prospect like Bracco or Grundstrom plus that conditional pick. I think Connor Brown might need a change of scenery, so there's an option as well. Could be a twenty goal guy in the right situation. Ergo, not being the eighth or so forward on the Leafs depth chart.

That wod be a huge overpayment for Simmonds. He's not a difference maker anymore. A pick or two shld be all anyone should pay for him.

I'd rather not. We need Liljegren more than Simmonds imo.

Are you nuts? Have you watched Simmonds play lately? He’s junk. Give up Liljegren for 3 or 4 months of junk!!?? Not a chance.

For a third or maybe 2nd rounder. Pass on anything more than that.

Part of the plan I assume. As much as I loved JVR as a Leaf, it had to be done.

Just give up Marincin for Simmonds. Add Gauthier if they really press the return. And thanks but no thanks after that. Keep our prospects and our first rounders too. Just remember what got us into this fiasco the last dozen years. Yes, trading assets.

UFA premium on JVR...just goes to show the advantages of building through the draft versus UFA day.

Also consider Philly could have kept JVR in the first place and would have enjoyed the benefits of his prime years having drafted him. Instead, they traded him for Schenn, like Chia traded Hall for Larsson, just like the huge blunder Dubas avoided by not trading Nylander for a dman.
