I’m more curious on signing UFA Stone.
It would be seamless imo
At what price is the big Q if he went UFA?
Imagine EP with Brock & Stone on the PP & adding 1 more proven scorer up front.
Sven would be very expendable. |

Trading your best 2 D, would definitely make the team worse, which would impact on the teams ability to keep the puck out of the net and set up the forwards to score...this would potentially impact on things like EP continuing to score and wining the Calder.
Just my .02
I'd trade 1 of the 2, but not both and not for what the nighthawk is expecting in return. - dbot
I get what you are trying to say...but let's just look at the past 3 seasons:
2018 - 26th
2019 - 29th
2017 - 28th
All with Edler/Tanev in the lineup and yes I get the fact that injuries play a role.
Point is that we are no better with them in than out at this particular point.
The benefits are getting assets while we can like we did with Dahlen for Burrows and Goldy for Hansen. IMO it's just time to move on. My .02
Now if we shown moving up 5 spots per year with Edler Tanev and they are contributing more than just munching minutes that's a bit different. But I haven't seen much otherwise than minute munching.

no he didn’t. He made some trades, but the core had nothing to do with him. How One of the worst drafting GM’s in NHL history has an “a good eye for prospects” is beyond me. Look at the guys he drafted, soooooo bad. Maybe one or two 180 game careers out of three drafts - neem55

At this point, I think its time to move on and allow space for others. If they see others may need more seasoning, you can sign some free agents in the summer.
Picks will give Van time. Developing for the future. - manvanfan

Team has to proactively rebuild at some point. You can't trip over you Richard into a Stanley Cup.
Sometimes you gotta bite it and just live with the short term pain for the long term gain of assets. This team is still shockingly asset poor for being a dumpster fire all but one year from 2014. |

Button was a disaster in Calgary. Anyone claiming otherwise doesn't know how to wipe their ass.
His prospect analysis is "fine" but he's overly exciteable on a lot of players. 45th overall pick, undersized winger with some offence... "HE'S BASICALLY JOE SAKIC"
Every player is directly comparable to a HOFer in Button's eyes and I think he drinks the Koolaid that fans do about their own prospects. Throws out one or two contrarian takes a draft but can't stop himself from loving everyone. |

Button is no different then other GM or scouts. Hits and misses across the board. |

Knowing Seattle joins in 2021-22 it’s never to early to make moves to set up the 7/3 protection list. Using the TDL’s before then will be very important for us. Cap space & contract spots are in good shape. It’s best to cut bait on vets if it helps in that regard. |

The team has like 4 players under contract in 2021 atm and only 1 worth protecting.'
Cutting bait on Edler/Gudbranson/Sutter/Tanev/whoever now isn't going to have much affect on that list. If anything if you manage to sell them for anything that works out then you've got yourself some cheaper options to replace anything you may lose. |

Hit hits were the equivalent of an infield ground ball.
He also gave Turek that giant, at the time, contract after he was bad in St Louis and then continued to be bad in Calgary. |

It could have been worse. They say if you do it too much you will go blind so be thankful it's only swollen hands. |

The drugs are flowing freely today I see. There is no chance in hell Benning is trading Hughes. He creamed his jeans when he picked Hughes and there is no way he is moving his puck moving Dman. |

Never*. I remember hearing how he talked with QH and his parents, saying that if for any reason he fell to the Canucks he wouldn't make it past them. He thinks so highly of the kid.

This is the part that fans need to realize. If you are living in the cellar you can not fall far.
I don't think they will trade both but I have heard a few times they will move on from Edler. Dan Murphy said an hour ago he doesn't believe Hutton will came back next year . Change is starting. Edlers agent has said they have not had any talks with Canucks so far . None |

If Dan is saying that he won't be back, he is probably inline for a long term contract extension. |

The names Q Hughes gets compared to are a pretty elite list . You don't trade a kid like that. |

Eh, I get what you're saying, but logic is skewed. Horvat was also a part of those teams, so the same reasoning could be applied him: we are no better with him in than out at this particular point.
I don't think you can take a crappy team and place it on the shoulders of two players. The Canucks have a lot more terrible players than them that should be moved on before, that are actually making the team worse.
Now, those are two players that still hold some level of trade value, so for that I think trading one of them is worth it... both if you feel Edler would resign this summer at a discount. |

Horvat is young and improving. Edler and Tanev are not young and not improving. |
