A joke of a suspension. It wasn’t knee on knee it was a shin on shin which happens as a result of reaction by most hockey players sometimes every year.

Dumba forearms Backlund in the head with 30 seconds left in a game they’re not going to win and gets nothing? Good job nhl for really “going after those headshots”. If that’s a 2 game suspension then Dumbas should be 5.

At least Gio went over to Koivu and first tried to apologize and then offered to fight if Koivu wanted to. He’s a man and is willing to answer for his mistake.
I like Dumba but turtling when a serious lightweight comes after you isn’t answering for his mistake.
And as for Ducks fans complaining...give it up. You’ve had the cheapest team in hockey for years. Kesler????? Perry????? And you’re going to complain about anyone else? Might as well trade for Marchand too to complete the trifecta of the dirtiest forwards in the league. So please take a look at the countless times your players have done things over the years before you even consider attacking a guy who hurt one guy on your team one time years ago.

Too much. Kneeing happens. Usually not a cheap shot, usually just an instinctive reaction. This was clearly the latter. It was an instantaneous, "Oh damn, got beat" reaction. Zero games. It's a hockey play, albeit a penalty.

League is a joke. Tom Wilson, a repeat offender, blasts a guy late and blindside in the area of the head on an obviously non-hockey and intentional play (unless the neaderthal has no peripheral vision). Nothing. An intentional elbow to the head that serves no purpose but premeditated vengeance. Nothing. A bang, bang knee by a player who is not known to be dirty (no matter what the biased parties would say). 2 games. Just insanity.

The utter lack of anything resembling rational thought is simply incredible. Keep putting meat heads in DOPS so you can later claim they just sucked at the job in the inevitable lawsuit... Yeah...look into agency law, NHL. Won't work.

This will continue to happen because all the nancy boys want fighting taken out of the sport. Get rid of the candy ass instigator rule and let the players police themselves !

1) Giordano has dirty tendencies with that knee.
2) I've been hearing this chant for a long time now. I think it goes something like, "You can't win here!"

Yeah - these are the words of a lame ass cheap shot, who has kneed guys into injuries, and who has never been suspended until now, in his 13 plus year NHL history. This quote from Sunday's Calgary Sun newspaper.

“Obviously bad timing by me on the hit. Just a bad play — I didn’t get him, I missed him,” Giordano said of Thursday’s hit on Koivu, explaining that he was trying to squeeze the Wild captain along the boards as he cruised by. “I’m not going after anyone trying to hurt them. I’m just trying to play the one-on-one, and I just felt like I didn’t get there in time and timed the whole play wrong.

“I was surprised that our legs hit like they did,” he added. “I thought originally that I just sort of clipped him and tripped him with my feet. But yeah, you see the different angles and our legs do hit. I was just sliding over. You do that maybe 50 times a game, where you slide over on a guy and you try to close ice. I was trying to close him on the wall, and the result was a bad one and I just hope that he gets back and is playing sooner rather than later.

“You hate to see a guy go down like that.”
