Sparks plays smaller than Bernier.

His positioning and rebound control are not nhl level.

I mean, dead horse... But letting mcbackup walk looks like a pretty big (frank) up. Not like we didn't all know that beforehand...

The d at times is also not that great with Andersen between the pies. Difference Anderson still gives us a chance to win
- BreathLeafs2015

Great.
One bad goal so far.
Check sparks stats prior to this game.
Hes giving us a chance.

The D hasnt been great.
Sparks can only be blamed for one goal. The 3rd one.

- Fakepartofme

I think he could have had the first one. You know why good goalies stop that? Because they move their heads and aren't complacent when they're screened. Instead he doesn't fight through the screen. That's more on him in my opinion.

It usually isn't. But when Andersen is in net, nobody seems to notice or care because he makes the saves. Leafs have to step it up and take control of the game for a change.

5 goals on 23 shots. McElhinney has had plenty of bad games this year. By the end of the year, he'll be back to his usual (bad) career average.

That being said, Sparks isn't that great either. He has a lot of AHL habits in his game and a lot of flaws that NHL shooters will pick apart.

Leafs need to get a legit back-up or just play better in front of him.

I don’t always agree with everyone else’s opinion. But I still say kapanen and Johnson with Matthews. They are super fast did in corners and not as skilled like 29 but they get it done. Trade nylander get your D man now. Sorry. Too many stars. It’s nice already with 91 16 34 24 43 18 upfront.

Despite Mac's play last year, I thought keeping Sparks was the right call. Much younger and just killed the AHL the year before.

In hindsight, Sparks doesn't look that great in the NHL, although maybe more seasoning in the AHL or something will change that? Goalies sometimes take time. I really didn't expect both Mac and Pickard to get claimed, but thems the breaks.

Lol faceoffs was still dumified that a 4th liner couldn’t score and had to kill penalties

I always hated that saying.

“Can’t be blamed” for a goal is just mediocrity.

A goaltender will face multiple high danger shots a game. He has to stop a few.

Having a pretty solid season though, it took him two months to force their big fa signing to waivers.

Nothing to dwell on, it's just the backup goalie.. And sparks is doing his job most games. Sparks gotta earn that trust and keep it if we want a fresh Fred come playoff time though.

Not on the 4th line. 4th line center is suppose to win face-offs, cycle the puck (kill the clock), provide energy and kill penalties.

and let's not forget

score goal(s).

All backups are flawed

It’s why they are backups and not starters and make around 1 million....
