I'm guessing that Columbus isn't the most exciting place to spend 8-9 months a year and that the locals only give a (frank) about OSU.

OSU hockey probably does well too.

Prior to the trade for Hawerchuk, they were rolling out Lindros, Brindamour, Otto and MacTavish up the middle. Each one routinely won 60% of faceoffs. I've never seen any team in any era dominate faceoffs the way that team did.

Couts/Patrick/Weal/Laughton domination

actually with Giroux taking his share, this year’s team is doing well on face offs

I’m curious if they pair Provy with Hagg or Ghost tonight. I’m leaning toward Hagg.

The CLB top line is really good.

- Marc D

I want them to leave Provy and Ghost together, both have struggled. I think they might be able to figure things out together, two very skilled guys, you don't have to worry about the other. Maybe they got out of their funks relying on each other and just trusting their game.

Looking at the Columbus roster, they really made a good deal picking up Seth Jones as their number 1D man and then drafting Dubois to replace Ryan Jo in 2016 as their #1 center.

The Panarin trade and letting Jack Johnson walk were both wins. I like how they are managed.

Can’t stand the coach though.

- Marc D

Their GM has done well overall, but he totally botched the ED by not buying Hartnell out before hand and letting Vegas take Karlsson.

I kind of wonder if Wilson, who is known for putting together balanced pairs, is going to shake things up a bit. Gudas has been playing really well and when matching up against top lines, you really want to have guys playing their natural sides. I wouldn't mind seeing:

Provy-Gudas
Ghost-Hagg
Sanheim-AMac

Yeah, I know, Gudas is not a top pair guy. But lets be real, no one on the current roster, except Provy when playing well, is really a top pair guy. I'd just rather have an experienced player, who is playing well right now, playing on his natural side against top competition, rather than using Ghost or Hagg in that spot on their off side.

Anybody who signs a long term contract now is gonna be looking for a NMC to avoid being taken in the expansion draft, too. Flyers can't afford to tie up any protection slots in vets w/ the # of valuable kids they have.
- Tomahawk

With Hexy we knew no one was getting trade protection.

I have a friend who grew up in Columbus. He pretty much says that OSU anything comes before all other sports in that part of Ohio.

They are doing very well, but no team was as good at the dot than that 95-96 squad.

They should be able to handle 4 X 7.5. That would pretty much be as far I'm willing to go in both term and cap hit.
- BiggE

The cap might be fine till 2023, but we need to make room in the top 9 sooner than that.

Next year NAK will be 23, and lose his waiver exemption. Lindblom will also be 23.

Vorobyev, Kase, Allison* and Laczynski* will be 22.

Rubtsov will be 21.

Frost and Ratcliffe will only be 20, but some 20 year olds can be top 9 players in the NHL.

Question anyone think Simmonds might go for a contract that makes him a free agent at the time of the Seattle draft with a wink and a nod that he gets another deal after that draft? Give him little extra cash on this deal then go 4x7 after the expansion draft?

We've seen Provy-Gudas last year and it was FUGLY!

I'm hoping we can add two guys to the roster for forwards next year internally. If we don't, maybe this prospect pool we have was a little over hyped. If you are not in the NHL by 23, you probably will never be much of an impact player.

That's a huge risk on Simmonds part. That handshake agreement would go right out the window if he was seriously injured and he would have just cost himself millions

That team was so dominant it seemed like they never lost a faceoff.

I used to hate that school with a passion but now I tolerate them since one of my former players that I coached now plays lacrosse there. I still hate everything about their football team though.

Eric also shown in this video punching Eric Desjardins' (he was still on Montreal at the time) head through the ice at the 11:52 mark.

Have to give credit to Hextall for not signing any NMCs
