Well I remember Schenn in his last Flyer year being the best player on the team, due to various reasons (Giroux injured etc.). I agree on Blues point. The fact is that Schenn is not the player who makes others better, but he is a great complimentary player. I am sure that with him in team and below second line
JVR - Schenn - Voracek
the following things would be almost utmost certain:
- we would be in playoff position
- there would be less empty seats
- and Ron would be still GM - Keith25
There are a lot of things wrong with the current team that Schenn doesn't fix.

Farabee's skillset reminds me a lot of TK at that age. Kid may make the team in a year or two. - BenderRodriguez
I look at Farabee as Eberle but with much better snipes. People may not get crazy excited about Eberle, but he was a hell of a player for Canada when he was 17-19 years old. |

So you think 70 points on 1 team automatically means he would of had 70 points on the Flyers?
How's he doing this year when not riding on Schwartz? - Glak18
He got the same opportunity with top line players as Coturier did. He wouldn't have gotten that here playing on the second line. On the first maybe. |

Having Frost and Farabee>>>>>having Schenn. - ajw12
I remember after lottery in 2017 Hextall stating that wining 2nd pick speeds up the rebuild process, and that was the fact all of us were excited about, I am sure. The moment he made the Schenn trade, which he for sure won by a mile, he moved the contending time line by at least 2 years. At that second he had to know he will not live up as GM of Flyers to see it off (benefits). |

Schenn is a nice player but stating that Hextall was out of his mind to trade him for 2 first round picks is wrong in my opinion. That's outstanding value for Schenn. What do we want? To be a little better and be a playoff team or to be a contender with a wide open window over a significant number of seasons to take multiple shots at it? If they had Schenn now, how much better would they be? - MJL
Agreed.
It's the normal hyperbole you see here sometimes.
The fact that we got 2 first round picks for him regardless along with something else is pretty amazing all things being equal.
If we had Schenn would we be marginally better this season if everything else played out the same way..Yes but I dont think it would make us into a true contender this year let alone in a year or two.

He had opportunities playing with Giroux on multiple occasions, actually he had opportunities everywhere and was never able to be consistent. |

Do you have a source or link for that Hextall statement, or is that just from memory? I personally don't remember hearing that one bit. |

Lindros was just a cheat code at the height of game. - johndewar
Has that been a reason we haven’t landed many big name free agents? No clue if it is but something to wonder. I know Hextall was reluctant for a variety reasons within his overall plan, but something to think about. |

he was the best player for us in 2016-2017 season. His first and only consistent season for us. Never will see what could follow this year on line in Voracek and JVR. |

Do not have source after those months, but there are 2 things I will remember from that day. Hextall being interviewed after lottery explaining what impact this will have on our rebuild and the strength of erection it gave me that day :-) |

You think Schenn...Brayden Schenn was consistent in 16-17 for the Flyers? |

Well without a source I doubt it happened, I have never heard Hextall say at any time the process was sped up for any reason ever. |

Even without the source, you think that winning 2nd overall should not impact rebuild time line? It does, you just can't trade your second best center away at the same time. Regardless of return.

No question winning the 2nd overall pick made an impact for the team and especially down the road, but you said this...

Hextall stating...
moment he [Hextall]...he [Hextall] moved the contending time line by at least 2 years
Again Hextall "stating" that is what I want to see. I think you are mixing up what non-rational media and fans made up in their heads to justify winning faster compared to what Hextall actually said. |

They know they can wear what they want and eat Pizza after the game. Hextall was even controlling of the TV staff. That evil bastard.
