Anthony Travalgia: What would a healthy lineup look like? If and when the Bruins are back at full strength, what will their lineup look like?

Forward group is very "meh". Top line deadly (obviously), second line more of a third line, and then it falls off a cliff. Strength is on the back end, when healthy. A third pairing of Miller and Krug is enviable, for sure

The Sweeney model is just too flawed. Too many bad contracts on the books to really improve the club. Some not his fault, he inherited the Krejci & Rask contracts. He completely goofed on the Backes deal and ultimately that has crippled the teams cap. You can’t have a 6 mil player on the 4th line. It’s a joke. He can’t fill any role but a 4th line plug. I like Backes, he is a Bruin player, it’s too bad he wasnt making 3.5-4 mil and it would be tolerable.

Not to beat a dead horse but Don completely botched the 15’ draft. We all know about it. Barzal was the guy as it was no secret he was highly touted by every panel expert and Don passed on him 3 times. Ouch.

Unless Debrusk, Heinen, Donato, Mccavoy take the next step and start dominating or they can ditch Backes and replace with a legit 6 mil player. I think this team is stuck as a decent team and not championship team.

Kids have been disappointing, this is their chance to push for the belief that they deserve to be here. Except for Donato they all have enough time/experience. Also, the fact they didn’t address the second line in the off season shows even more now.

Agree with your forwards however Heinen is a shell of what he was last year. Unless you address that one spot next to Krejci and DeBrusk this team may not even make the playoffs.
Big disagreement with your D picks
I don’t understand why Carlo is an automatic around here. What does he do that Clifton-Lauzon-Moore can’t do ??
If Gryz sits because of Carlo playing then I have to think they don’t know what direction they are headed. Carlo is slow footed, no hands, no toughness no nothing out there. Rather see Lauzon or Clifton out there. You pair Miller and Krug agreed. It’s a no brainer. Krug has earned his stripes.

Pretty spot on, the whole point of this season was to let the kids earn spots. Middle of the lineup would be a lot less meh if Heinen, Bjork, Donato and JFK stepped up like they’re capable of. As it is, if they wanna make a serious run this year they’ll need to add at least one good forward before the deadline

Yeah the secondary scoring is almost non-existent right now. I think Heinen will have a bounce back 2nd half but 5 points in 25 games is just not good enough.

CHARLIE MCAVOY is 8th on the team in points and he has played 7 games!

ya it's just hold on time right now, there isn't much they can do with guys being injured and guys not making a case for themselves, I mean Colby Cave has done admirably but that spot is just way over his head, when your playing between Marchand and Pasta you need to produce, again this is on management, their plan was for one of those (3 or 4) youngs guys to make it. Doesn't look great, but it's hard to move these guys now cuz your not getting anything back for them.
Donato has NHL skills and shot, but not strong enough on puck for the NHL
Heinen has NHL Sense but lost his hands and maybe even the speed
Bjork not sure where he fits in, I thought he was the guy this year.
JFK see above same thing here.

I mean what's the best thing that has happened so far this year ??
To me it's been Lauzon and Clifton ??

AND GUESS WHAT the goal tending has been PHENOMENAL the last few weeks.

I've been high on Louzon since Junior's.
Clifton on the other hand has blown me away.
Great compete level, hard shot, good wheels, just 5 or 6 inches and 25lbs, shy of what we really need him to be.

Edit: Clifton sent down.
Charlie removed from the IR.
There's hope yet.

Chucky's going to need a few games. Also once again Jack & Brick are just drooling over Carlo, and then he ices it, then he turns it over, and over again and again, THEN he turns it over and takes the wrong angle back to get in the play, Leads DIRECTLY to the 2nd goal that killed them. Providence would be so helpful for Carlo.

Tough Night, also Pasta was getting run in the 3rd and right now he's the whole Team.
