Too old, too expensive, not the right fit. JMO. - bixll
I hate the narrative that we are too soft... but, we could use some physicality. These two players can play and would likely be invigorated in a playoff atmosphere. Whether I like it or not the playoffs are and always will be more physical than the playoffs and you need guys like this on the team. Obviously preferably ones that can also skate. |

False equivalence.
Marleau is not touted as a top winger in the league. He's a veteran presence that can score a few goals.
Weber will be done as a #1 defender in a year or two but he'll still be a viable d-man who brings said veteran presence. That contract though... - mjones242

Then we fans can brag about being so good that we pay 4th liners $7m/per - Garnie
Delicious. (sorry Zezel)
4th would be perfect to get him in game shape...if they put him Matthews right away, they'll just make one line rush, then back to center ice for a face off - he'll never get his legs back. |

Just spent 5 minutes screwing around the NHL stats engine, looking for Marleau's stats.
Why the frank do they have him listed as a centre?
And yes, I checked, they now have Kessel as a right winger. |

Agreed. I'd like to give him some time with Nylander this year before we condemn him to the abyss. - mjones242

Marleau at 39 = a great mentor and doing his part.
Weber at 33 = pretty much done in a year or two. - Scabeh
Marleau hasn't missed a game in 7 years. Weber started his season after missing the first 7 weeks.
All players age differently. Weber's body has taken a terrible beating. |

While Marleau is doing this:
Weber is encouraging Habs rookies to take dangerous drugs, wander around Crescent Street all night and talk to floozies! |

Anyone concerned that our backup goalie has glasses made from Coke bottles?

In the improbable scenario where it would be possible. I wouldn't. We all moved on.
At the time of the trade though, I was pretty bummed about it.
It's like the idea going back to your ex after a difficult breakup after finding the courage to move on you know. |

Yeah but after moving on you can still wank it to the thoughts of the dirty things that you did to your ex every once in awhile |

I love Weber - easy guy to like, just what the Leafs need IMO. A torn meniscus - he'll be good as new. He is Marleau, with way more upside.

I think Weber shaving off his mustache will be the poison that (frank)s it all up for the Habs. |

I would think that most Habs fans deep down know that they would take a do-over on the Weber-PK trade. Also, the Drouin/Sergachev trade is a push. Luckily for the Habs faithful they seem to have cashed in on the Domi-Gally trade. |

Yes, because there are plenty of 35-36 year old d-men who have experienced significant injury problems that remain legit #1 defenders. |
