Should have been a 2 minute penalty. Only was a 5 because of injury, but it's not Reaves fault Wilson wasn't wearing his helmet properly.

Seeing the way Wilson was coming in, and his reputation... can't say I wouldn't preemptively initiate contact like Reaves did.

It's a bit dirty, and certainly the outcome isn't good (never want to see a player hurt, including a headhunter like Wilson). Probably a 5ish game suspension coming.

I just don't get it. This is a perfectly clean hit, applied to an absolute garbage human being (not that that part matters).
Shoulder to shoulder. Reeves didn't change his path once deciding to lay the body. Wilson still moving in the same direction as when he played the puck and looked back to admire his pass. I put a stopwatch to the video 7 times and came up with times between 0.4-0.53 seconds from the time he played the puck until contact. NHL standard for a late hit is >0.7 seconds isn't it?

At worst 2 minutes for interference. There is nothing illegal about a blindside hit. They skated directly into each other. The puck carrier needs to know where he's going.

Anyways, if Tom Wilson misses games that's on the NHL because that bumhole should be suspended right now for his INTENTIONAL bullpoop hit from behind to a player who was nowhere near the play.

A little late but clean hit. Looked to me that Wilson was hurt by hitting his head on the ice, not by the hit.

It is a complete joke that we are even talking about this hit in this way. Wilson SOLD this job like a cheap hooker. He saw Reeves and turned his head to draw the penalty, he is so dumb on the ice that he didn't even turn his back to the play to make it look like a hit from behind. If the refs had any balls, they would have called a 2 minute embellishment call on Wilson, as the only penalty. I really hope the refs from that game get suspended for not making the right call.

Hit was late, Wilson had his back turned. It couldn't happen to a better guy, but it was a bad move by Reaves. (Not to mention autographing photos of it for a seller, the next day).
