So why isn't Kane playing with Strome and Cat?
- SoftServe

Reason? JC is too busy making every idiotic move possible. The less common-sense involved the better for our JC. He isn’t a professional man - in interviews he seems like an immature idiot. STOP THE FREAKIN’ SMILING/SMIRKING! When did the Hawks decide to be a laughing stock?

"The Chicago Blackhawks have been out scouting heavily. Their ‘Cap-ologist’ traveled with them on their last road trip. GM Stan Bowman scouted the Coyotes-Kings, two scouts watched Kings-Canucks, three at Stars-Flames, and two watched Kings-Oilers."
- SoftServe

Saw this earlier, hopefully Stan is looking to move existing skaters for picks/prospects. Rutta, Anisimov, Murphy (soon), Gustafson, Hayden all have value to a team looking to make a playoff run. Hayden it may be too soon to give up on, but the first three could fetch a nice 2nd round/decent prospect.

I totally agree but things change quick. I am sure the ratings are awful and the interest in the team is heading lower as well. That being said where does the value of the team go?
- TJYTJY

Even as a diehard, after watching 8 straight games without a lead, I’m frustrated and have started weighing the time spent watching them lose compared to doing useful things like sleep. I’m pretty tired today at work after last night’s 4-2 loss and think I’d rather go to sleep tonight at 11 or so rather than watching the Knights beat them like 5-2. Last year wasn’t as bad because it appeared to be an aberration with Crow out, learning to adjust without Hoss, Toews and Saad having bad years. This year they look really bad and whether Q was a problem or not, I didn’t like firing him in the abrupt manner they did so.

That said, I can’t imagine the casual fans sticking around for this team. I really do like the fair weather fans though because it really felt good for the years people cared for the Hawks after being the 5th team for most of the early and mid-late 2000’s. If the fair weather guys stop caring, the value will definitely go down.

This was curious too after the utter failures of Savy and Graham as fresh coaches.

Hitchcock was out there. But now Yeo and McClelland are free.

- Popsghostly

Savy was not a failure. Almost lead the Hawks to the play-offs when Kane and Toews were rookies. He wouldn’t kneel and kiss Scotty’s ring so he numbered his own days. Fired by Tallon who didn’t see that he was Scotty’s next target. Who became GM solely based on nepotism - StanBo.

I still can't shake the compulsion to watch every single game. Even when the team is at the lowest point in the last ten years. I'm sure this isn't the case for more casual fans, prices are already dropping for secondary market tickets. Season ticket holders aren't going to be as keen to renew their multi-$1,000 packages if they know they can't sell most of the games they don't attend for at least face value.

With the Bears being good this year, the Hawks won't sniff any casual interest until the Bears are out or the NFL season is over. The Bears dominate ratings pretty well even when they're awful.

I think the entire coaching staff is out of its mind. I’ve been referencing the word “professional” lately and this coaching staff seems clueless and totally unprofessional. I’ve actually thought can we have a do-over?
- Z3Hawk

I was all for firing Q , and I thought JC made sense .Not allowing him to have his own assistant coaches is ridiculously stupid ,like coaching with both hands tied behind your back .
I am all for giving him time ,but let him get his people around . This team is running on three wheels right now.
If this is how upper management thinks the team should be run then I think it is time for a change . I know Rocky is tremendous guy and loyal to a fault ,but that sometimes can get you in some deep due

The trainwreck is kind of fun to watch. A little irritating but not surprising if you watched any games last year and looked at their moves this off season. Hilarious anyone thought they were more than a fringe team at best.

Anyway, glad to see they went outside the box and didn't hire the typical "hockey guy" retread as a coach. Probably going to get Trent Yawney'd unless they make a move or two. Amazing Q had this team playing .500. the holes were just as glaring but hidden a bit better (and inflated scoring to start helped). The lack of talent is pretty obvious especially on the blue line.

If there's going to be a move before the end of the calendar year id expext it to happen after tonight's game or tomorrow.

Maybe he's going through a bit of a bad period, if you will. I think if he wasn't right and was suffering from any health issues, we'd be seeing Ward almost exclusively.
- HawkintheD

I think Crawford is a battling, tough, proud dude. I’m worried that if he is fighting through some symptoms he may hide it. Otherwise he is simply awful playing shooters breaking in who seem to be scoring an insane amount of the time.

Z3, I was with you when you were on the "Q's shelf life has expired" most of the last couple of years because I did think he was an amazing coach, but no longer effective with the group he had. Now, you're questioning Colliton's abilities. I don't think he would have had the success he had in Sweden or with the Hogs if he was a terrible coach. Was it terrible timing? yes Was it a premature promotion? maybe Was he handed some assistants who may not be helpful? yes

At what point is it the players and their effort/motivation and the makeup of the roster? How is it that for the past few games, they've been able to turn it on and make a game of it against some very good teams for 2 of 3 periods? Why aren't they fighting the whole way? Why so lost in period 1? Maybe it is the systems, maybe the players' attitudes or effort, maybe both.

Maybe JC should just say for one game, "you know what? screw the systems - don't think about them. Kane, create the F lines, Keith create the D pairings. Now, just go out there and play hockey like you know how to and we'll see what happens" Get them out of their heads.

My 'players I'd like to keep around' list has been shrinking quite a bit this season.

Here are my revisions:

Kane
Hayden
Martinsen
DeBrincat
Kahun
Fortin
Kampf
Strome
Perlini
Joki
Murphy
Davidson
Manning (only guy who is bringing emotion lately)

If you can move other guys to bring in some talent/picks, I'm for it.

How do we know it was Stanbo and staff out scouting the games between all those teams?

It could be those teams refuse to spend the $ to send their scouts to watch the Hawks play so Stan brought colour photos of the players he wants to sell off asap. That would be a helluva lot of photos so he likely needed help carrying them.

[Hopefully] Next Year's Lineup:
Saad-Toews-Stone
Debrincat-Strome-Kane
2019 Pick-Barratt-Sikura
Kahun-Kampf-Perlini

Keith-Jokiharju
Forsling-Boqvist
Mitchell-Seabrook

Crawford
Delia

The 3rd line might need to be mixed up so it's not all rookies, but imagine having a talented and potent 3rd line? What a dream.

Ha ha. Yeah I'm tired and grumpy this morning. Obese, knowing myself and after your post, I'm pretty sure I'll be up late tonight watching them lose. I've never been able to shake that compulsion.

How soon until Gagner is a hawk?
Or any other Pacific team, seeing as that's where our scouts have been?

Yeah, tonight's game will be painful. Vegas comes at you in waves, much like the mournful reminiscing of players we lost in 2017.

For me the on ice trainwreck isn't fun to watch at all. I do agree it isn't surprising. What I do enjoy is watching most of the posters here making bizzare trade ideas, blaming everyone and anyone for the team's problems and one guy claiming the cap isn't difficult to manage. I'm waiting for some of these posters to jump off the ledges they are precarliously perched on.
