Agreed, I think it's like when Kadri was signed and people (not everyone) were saying he's going to be traded because of his good contract etc. Teams generally don't sign players long term unless they are intending to keep them, if things go decently well Nylander should be here for the forseeable future.

He did screw us over pretty hard. Didn’t have to tell the organization not to trade him and that this is where he wants to be, only to throw his Leafs bedsheets in our face. But personally, I’m glad he’s gone. I’d rather lose every game this year and next year then have that snake in the grass ever wear our uniform ever again. We didn’t win anything while he was here and I wouldn’t want a player on this team that clearly didn’t wanna be here. Karma has a big date with John Tavares. I look forward to that

I think the leafs and nylander did a good job of not creating any animosity either. Both parties were able to come out of it with no ill will.
