Both. He is a sociopathic predator with no regard for anyone else's safety.

Anyone defending him at this point is just as bad.

I consider him more of a psychopath.

The difference between Wilson and players like Matt Cooke/Raffi Torres is that Wilson is still in favor with the NHLPA whereas those guys lost favor. When that happened they were no longer able to appeal suspensions and were effectively driven out of the league. The opinions of the NHL and its DoPS do not matter. The only thing that matters is that of the NHLPA.

I think for Wilson to actually lose favor with the NHLPA he needs to take out a veteran from the Toronto area, who also has a lot of pull in the NHLPA. Taking out a Swede (Sundqvist) or a younger player (Seney) isn't enough.

The NHL should be ashamed of themselves.

Sociopath. No question about it. Repeated intentional actions to injure another human being for a game is indicative of a nonexistent capacity for empathy. This means his anterior cingulate cortex isn't fully functioning which has led to a decreased amygdala response which has atrophied the supramarginal gyrus (which is responsible for being able to understand and relate to another person's pain).

If he was a psychopath he would do it every single game because he would have an amygdala on overdrive. He would be unable to control himself but only in reactionary cases. Cold premeditation like this hit is sociopath.

To answer the question...

The NHL is a joke. Tom Wilson clips and their repeates failure to act in a consistent and reasonable manner will headline the inevitable class action concussion lawsuit filed by the players he's injured.

In addition: sociopaths are almost universally excellent at talking their way out of trouble by conning/charming people with seemingly plausible arguments that fall apart upon independent review of the facts by anyone who does not directly interact with the sociopath in question. They are master manipulators. Hence why Rierdan, the blind fool, so willingly defends him. Unless he is a gutless coward. That could be possible too.

Let's keep putting goons in charge of player safety... I look forward to the next player Wilson will injure in...two weeks time. Eventually he will may even kill someone.

Leave it to a Pens blogger to exaggerate this play. Wilson has been excellent since returning. Not only his offensive game, but his discipline as well. Yeah, he had a fight and a couple minor penalties in his 8 previous games... but all in all, look at how he's changed his game. He's. It hitting the opposition nearly as frequently as he used to, and this is because his career can't afford another suspension.
Ryan (Wilson), set aside your detest for Tom and take a closer look at how hockey is played. Big bodies pass at high speeds frequently every shift. If a player leans or deviates from his anticipated path, collisions happen. Tom is not expecting to collide with Seney on this play. His eyes are forward, he doesn't change his stance or brace in any way for a hit.
Although Seney had left the game briefly, I feel bad for Wilson on this play. You can see how disheartened he was entering the penalty box. He's trying to clean up his game (and doing very well) while putting up almost 1.5 points per game. 13 points in 9 games is a pace of 118 points over 82 games.
Save this kind of blogging for when he actually does something wrong. In my books, you, Ryan, have lost more of my respect than Tom for writing this POS blog.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Caps fan, not a Wilson relative. I'm a hockey fan, and I hate biased statements.

He's not trying hard enough. Not nearly enough. He has demonstrated, repeatedly, and in blatant fashion, that he is a head-hunter. He is a bruiser. He is throw-back to the cro-magnon days. Players in that age were generally smaller, not as solidly built, and slower. The game is now played with larger humans and faster speeds. The league has evolved beyond Wilson's style of play. He must adapt or find another profession. I might suggest he try the UFC.

I was watching the game live and for once, I thought it wasn't malicious intent by Wilson. Was I happy he was ejected? Yes, but I felt like this hit was exactly like the Hit Malkin had on Oshie. Where Oshie skated into Malkin's shoulder and Oshie went down. Malkin was Ejected, but there was no malicious intent he was just trying to play the puck and Oshie happened to skate into him. As a Pens fan and hockey fan I dislike Wilson, but I will state that it did look as though he was skating in toward the puck and didn't really pay attention to Seney and clipped him.

Intent doesn't matter any more in Wilson's case. In fact, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he never intended to hurt any of the players he has hurt in the past. Let's say all of those cases were just bad luck, coincidental timing, or whatever. If that is the case, then it means that Wilson is doing this by muscle memory and sheer instinct to play with reckless abandon. That would be fine and dandy if he wasn't leaving a trail of concussions and broken bones in his path.

If Wilson is just wired to play this way, then his coaches need to reign him in. If his coaches can't handle him, then the owner, the GM, and the league need to have a serious final sit-down with him and give him an ultimatum. Play with an edge, but don't cross the lines that lead to serious injuries. If he can't do that, then suspend him indefinitely until he does.

The NHLPA can't pretend that it gives a poop about concussions and the health of it's members, if it allows bounty hunters like Wilson to end careers and cripple his fellow union members.

Or, somebody needs to pull a McCarty and give him a Claude Lemieux style education on the matter - if that is all he (and his supporters) understand.

Wilson bad. Gritty good. Gotta beat the Flyers today. Can’t afford to lose home games to teams lower in the standings. Can this be a “must” win game if the Pens are to be taken seriously as Stanley Cup contenders?

Tom Wilson is the embodiment of the leagues stupid rule changes and more liberal(wussy) approach to hockey. When you are the biggest, fastest and heavy hitting player in a league of Bryan Rusts with rules in place to protect you and not the people your hitting it’s an easy world.

Exactly right on intent. It should no longer matter with this psycho. I remember two times where this coward refused to answer for his crap. He refused to fight Oleksiak and refused to fight Sestito....I wish I had the GIF's 'cause it was a demonstration in pure gutlessness. Matt Cooke was a carbon copy of this scumbag but at least he took his much deserved beating.

Eventually somebody else on his team will get blindsided and the Caps organization will have no one to blame but themselves.

You and j.boyd both have Pens logos in your display pictures. More biased opinions of players on the "rival team". But I love the brilliant and well-articulated responses to my idiotic statement. Keep up the good work gents, we all appreciate your responses which required so much research and in-depth thought.
