You're right... Brian Burke is controversial and he would give the Flyers an immediate identity if only away from the ice. The fans could get behind him and he'd make names for the media that covers the team although if I was John Boruk I might make my presence felt from the back of the room.

I'm holding out hope they can convince Steve Yzerman to take up the helm. That would be my best available option.

Burke would instill toughness as a GM, and with that, (thankfully) infuse the lineup with some much-needed grit and sandpaper. Not waving the flag for a roster full of slugs and goons...just players that get pissed off when the wheels fall off. This team needs a Matt Hendricks-type player. Wouldn’t surprise me if the guy pisses vinegar!

Everyone on TSN is guessing from the buzz that it's Chuck Fletcher. We'll see if they're right.

The biggest issue with fletchers tenure is probably his draft record. Although he had consistent playoff appearances with the highest pick he ever got was dumba at #7

I’ve read that the parise/Suter deals were more of an owner mandated thing and something outside of his norm. Always fun when the business side throws in their 2 cents

Fletcher another guy who did nothing and whose teams never made it far into the postseason. Gave up players for free to Vegas lol

This team is sooooooo bad, can’t hold a 3-1 lead in third vs a backup goalie. Pathetic!

While I like Burke's demeanor and no nonsense attitude, I think his time as GM in the NHL has passed. Not sure he's willing in embrace some of the new analytical theories, which whether you're a fan or not should have a part in over all player analysis.
