Detroit is in better shape than many on that list, but still only will have around $17 million in space this summer.
Barring a big trade, the Kings will have less than $10 million in space and only have 14 current NHLers under contract. - BINGO!
Well their other issue isn't just the cap, it's the fact they have little cap space and guys aging with large contracts. I can see another cup run for them if Quick gets healthy and they have a couple good drafts.
Kovulchuk was a bad deal for 3 years I think. |

Capitals just won a cup. That's fine to do.
Kings won one not too long ago and Ducks, well the Ducks haven't been super dangerous in a few years. - Aaron_85
This is the 5th season since they won that cup.
The only players on that team on contracts that were signed before they won that second cup are Brown, Carter, Quick and Martinez.
Everybody else was signed or traded for after. |

That's what I mean. They don't have the piece to replace their rapidly aging core, and their core is so expensive that they can't afford to sign anybody to replace them either.
The team is old and slow and it's going to be a mess.
Kovalchuk for 2 makes sense. 3 years is too much. They're going to try to force him out now, I think. |

They need a team to take on some salary. I'm not sure who takes on Kovy. Maybe Florida? Just a random guess on a bubble team. Dallas? |

If they retain $2 million on him I'd take him on the Canes. He's certainly got a relationship with Waddell, and maybe it'd be good for Svechnikov to get the chance to play with one of his childhood heroes in Kovalchuk? |

They should retain Carter and trade him.
I think he has value without being retained but he could get a good haul. |

I’d do that if I’m the Canes.
He’s still a good player and will be for the next few years. He had a good start to the season but playing on the Kings right now brings anyone down. |

Yeah they have the space for a guy like that, and letting him play one of the wings on the PP makes sense.
Ferland - Aho - Teravainen
Kovalchuk - Rask - Svechnikov
Foegele - Staal - Williams
McGinn - Wallmark - Martinook |

Sean Burke (Hatford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes 1992-1998) and Ron Francis (Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes 1981-1991, 1998-2004, 2009-2018) named Co-GM's of Team Canada for the Spengler Cup.
Kevin Dineen (Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes 1984-1992, 1995-1999) will be the head coach. |

He gets a bad rap sometimes but Brodeur said he was one of the best teammates he’s ever had...that has to mean something. |

I think some people poop on him for the way he left New Jersey, called him selfish...
If he was only in it for the money, he probably wouldn't have walked away from the $77 million he was still owed in New Jersey. |

I agree, people have hate ons for certain players and can’t get over it.
honestly in the summer I questioned just about every fan if they watched Kolvalchuk since he played for the Devils...everyone seemed to have an opinion on how good of a player he was. |

Let them do it! Only makes beating the Canes in the playoffs that much easier. |

Filled it out.
I dont think Subban makes the first pairing. Vlasic is likely on this roster and not Letang as well. I think Peiteranegelo would still be there. I wouldnt be surprised if Keith, and Ellis were in the mix. - Archaic
Yeah well all those guys i left off are old guard.. And they have put up disastrous numbers this season.. Letang deserves a shot over Vlasic or Keith.. Ellis would be fun to consider.. You want guys who can skate and move the puck well.. TBH no one really cares about defense lol.. If that were the case Hainsey would be there.. (he may be american idk) |
