and they could be caught.... how? Do you think it's the team, or the player that has incentive to inform the league? And quite frankly, they're playing within the rules presented to them. Why would they be penalized?

It's like the NHL is in the business of running around penalizing teams for blatantly circumventing the cap. I mean, when players develop allergies when they stop getting paid, and players still on LTIR get named to a key position in the league.....

probably tough to get caught I guess, we'll wait and see what he signs before planning "the who's right" parade.

You think the Leafs and Nylander sat out 30 games to save some bucks on the cap as a plan? I can't see it....more of a circumstance or coincidence if it does work out that way.

further, if you're Nylander, and you're presented with:

"Listen, we've got a way we're going to pay you every cent of what you want, and your contract will help up stack up your team for the next 8 years, but you gotta sit out 20 games, go stay game ready in Sweden with your buddies (don't sign), then come in guns blazing for a half season, nice and fresh while the Leafs are already a top team",

Why wouldn't he do that???

If i'm Nylander my response is "hell yeah Kyle, I'll sit the 20 games, and look forward to winning a few cups!!!".

Now, obviously that's a bit of hyperbole as half a million on the cap is not going to win cups, but given how tight the leafs are next year, it certainly helps towards that goal.

I very much doubt this was the plan at all.

Dubas just thought he could sign Willie for whatever he thought was fair for the Leafs imo.

He's coming out of this smelling like roses if it all works out like this.

And now he has a $6.5M cap hit to use as a benchmark when he's signing Marner (yes, obviously higher, but it's something to reference).

No worries...

One last thing. Make sure the monitor supports AMD Freesync. It might add a few extra bucks but in the end it will be worth it.

I said IF.

I think it truly becomes obvious IF he signs either tomorrow or Saturday. And if it's saturday, I'm curious if he practices with the team before he signs.

the only thing I can see is that maybe Dubas got to a point, 1 week ago, 2 weeks ago..maybe more no idea.. and said said (frank) it, the Leafs are doing fine, he can wait it out..assuming the cap stuff benefits the leafs the longer they wait

i dont know what to believe but it sounds like Willie has come down from his ask? Dubas has not come up?
Dubas can now just wait until the last minute and grind it down as far as he can then sign him

Just bought a 6 year old refurb hp elitebook 4870p that I'm fixing up for me ma.

I was sceptical at first, but after having my hands on it for 30 minutes, i'm godamned impressed with overall condition and functionality.

Slap in an SSD and buy 16gb of used ddr3l 1600 ram and it should take care of everything outside of high end gaming.

And structure the contract in a "mutually beneficial" way.

Filled it out.

I dont think Subban makes the first pairing. Vlasic is likely on this roster and not Letang as well. I think Peiteranegelo would still be there. I wouldnt be surprised if Keith, and Ellis were in the mix.

I think it was because goalies were scared back in those days and saying "That's it, I'm done. I'm not doing this" was frowned upon
