I can almost certainly guarantee you that they are more concerned with the bottom line than winning the cup, and ultimately Dubas and Shanahan represent them in this negotiation.

The idea that he's not a team player because he doesn't want to take less money than what he's asking for is very presumptive, I think.

We don't know for sure, but as this drags on the latter seems to be true. If his agent can't make him money outside of the Leafs organization in this hockey mad city then he needs a better agent.

I seem to remember reading that Kucherov signed the bridge deal begrudgingly, and then a couple of years later he complained about how the guys making big bucks were doing poop all while he was putting the team on his back.
