Looks like a trap game for the Leafs. A successful west coast swing and coming home from a road trip 3 time zones away. Columbus will jump on them early. Hopefully, Andersen can keep them in the game, until they get their legs back.

I have to goto work but from the last blog -

"Liljegren should be an untouchable".

I disagree with this. You can get a bonafide top dman to pair with Rielly (for years to come at 7.5 million) I think you do it for Nylander + Liljegren. I like the kid but he's a prospect. He isn't for sure anything yet.

Rielly is leading a d-core that has given up the 6th fewest goals in the NHL. If that trend continues, and he puts up 80 points, he should be top 3 d-men for sure.

Also he's paired with meth cook impersonator Ron Hainsey

like I've said before; Willie, Sandin or Lillybust and a 2nd should get you a decent RHD

I wouldn't - I think Liljegren should be in Leafs' untouchable group.
- plantheparade

YOu must be kidding right?

First off, I think anyone that says someone is untouchable loses all credibility for their opinions. There is no such thing as "untouchable"....Hell, Conor McDavid is a tradeable asset if someone wanted to make a dumb trade. You don't think Edmonton would take Matthews, Marner and Rielly for McDavid!!???

Second, Liljegren is your "untouchable" asset that would hold up a trade for Ekblad? []
Sorry buddy, but you don't block a trade for one of the best young RHD in the NHL for Liljegren....that is pure insanity.

I hope I'm wrong but I can see this game as a typical Monday night snooze fest at the SBC. I'd prefer the Leafs to play on the road all season.

And of course, you are 100% right.
Anyone that would say no to a trade for Ekblad because of Liljegren is off their rocker IMO

can we stop dycking around with this nonsense, and just make St. Louis an offer for Paryako?

he's not got concussion history (like Ekblad)
he's signed to a decent mid-range contract for another 4-5 years
he's played with Rielly already
he's not some used up tired guy with attitude (like Doughty, or Karlsson)
he's playing with a team that's kind of at a cross roads and needs to make changes

who else ticks all these boxes?

NHL seems to value offense as their top measuring tape for Norris trophy.
So yeah, if Rielly can can continue this pace, he will be a top norris candidate.

Paryako would be an amazing and perfect trade target for the leafs....and I would overpay for him as well. But, I think that you would have to severely over pay the Blues for him...

that has been the case for the most part for the past 10-15 years...

but now that Rielly is leading that charge... the intellectual leadership within the sports writers will find a way to "refocus the value associated with the Norris" to a more defensive oriented evaluation.

in short, Rielly will get screwed. book it
