Throw away year??!!
If you are referring to me, I didn't mean that at all.

I just meant that the players being talked about are not enough to give that huge boost the Leafs would need to trade him away.

- Cooshie

it had come off as throw away, i see what you are saying.

No I mean Nylander plus for a top 20 defenseman. They could add plus to Nylander but if a team doesn't want to trade their elite guys then they don't a strong offer doesn't necessarily change that.
- Blazed

Oh...thought you meant Kapanen plus would do it (for Montour)...

As mentioned, would love to see Parayako as a target for Nylander package. IMO, that would be the boost the Leafs D needed.

You mean Kapanen plus - I think.

But yeah, you are right about Doughty. It would take a huge offer.
But maybe someone like a Colton Parayko would be more realistic for a Nylander package.

- Cooshie

St. Louis is absolutely (frank)ed if they trade Parayako. They won't do it, they actually are hurting on defensive depth.

Jay Bouwmeester has been a healthy scratch.

I dont understand all the chatter around Doughty- hes going to make $11 million a year, has a full no move, and doesnt want to leave LA. He has expressed how he wouldnt enjoy being in a media hotbed like toronto so there's a zero percent chance he waives his no move.

Also, the leafs need to trade Nylander because they cannot afford to pay him $8 million - yet somehow they are suppose to afford $11 million from Doughty..and still sign AM34 and Mitch...ain't EVER EVER happening!

Hamilton is interesting. If Carolina is serious it is Hamilton or bust.

Yep. That one's a head scratcher. Glad they aren't looking after my finances.

Yep, they brag about all their good D.

Willie will help them score and Hamilton makes our D pretty much ready. IMO

Tough sell for them since Lindholm has been PPG top line player since trading him and Hanifin for Hamilton.

Leafs can't let him sit it would be a waste of a year for their Window for a cup (not that they still wouldn't have a chance) I could see why fans wouldn't mind him sitting must be very frustrating.

Sign him or get something for him and take your shot at the cup in the next few years

In the end that won't be the Leafs decision. If Nylander sits it's all on him.

Thank goodness we have less than 3 weeks of this Nylander crap to talk about.

I highly doubt he sits.

It’s bad for the Leafs

It’s bad for Nylander

It’s bad for Nylanders agent

It’s bad for Dubas

It’s a collosal failure and I would put money on it not happening. The very least they sign a bridge.

That’s likely, a year sat will be an embarrassment all around.

If I signs a bridge though I hope Dubas turns around and trades him before Christmas.

If he signs a bridge deal at this point I’ll bet dollars to donuts he’s booed on his return.

The worst part is what it tells Nylander's teammates. "I don't give a (frank) about you, just myself." Even if he does end up on another team nobody will ever trust him again. Luckily the Leafs are doing very well and they don't need him, it would be devastating if the opposite were true.

At the very least Matthews does what a good captain should do and has a 'chat' with him in the parking garage.

On the contrary, I'm starting to think that he's going to do just that. It's not a logical move in any respect - it'd be an emotional one by a kid who has a stubborn pedigree. I hope it doesn't get to that point, but hey, who knows?

I think we need to be talking more about whether the Leafs can even afford him moving forward at anything above 6.5-7M. I can see Matthews signing for 12.5x8 and Marner commanding 8.5-9Mx8. How do you fit Nylander into a forward group that already has Tavares at 11?

Honestly, I think that money is better spent on improving the D through a signing (e.g. Pietrangelo when he reaches UFA) or via trade.

It's funny how many fans of other teams are worried about our cup window closing. I wonder why that is. Better take their advice and trade Willy to their team for cents on the dollar.

He’s a third liner that compares very favourably to Tom Wilson.

As a trade balancer with Montour it’s a good fit.

You expect Getzlaf?
