I've been a Schneider defender over the last couple years even as he's looked off, but right now I don't really see any signs that he can or will get back to the elite level he was at a few years ago. Even when he makes saves he just doesn't look confident at all, and/or let's out a big rebound. Meanwhile Kinkaid has been great this year. It will be really interesting to see what they do as far as the goaltending this summer. Not sure how you can reasonably not re-sign Kinkaid and say Schneider is the team's starter. You also can't pay Schneider $6M to be a backup.

Very frustrating that from 2014-2016 Schneider was great, arguably to the detriment of the franchise. The team was awful and probably should have ended up with one of McDavid, Eichel, Matthews, or Laine...but Schneider kept them in the dreaded mirky middle. Now that the team is looking to emerge from rebuild mode he can't get it together. I feel bad for the guy, but as a fan it's very frustrating.

If we continue to lose 5 out of 6, absolutely. There's a lot of season left. Not to make the playoffs in all likelihood, but maybe to be competitive enough to believe that it was just a fluke year and we're still on course. Maybe

Which is why he is the worst contract on the team until he proves he can reach that elite level again.

I'm by no means saying the Devils are definitely making the playoffs but the reality is they're currently 6-8-1, which is not good but also a short winning streak from "not bad". Obviously the team has to start playing like they were the first two weeks of the season to turn it around, but one singular stretch like this doesn't make or break a team's season. I believe last year the Flyers lost 10 in a row and made the playoffs while the year before they won 10 in a row and missed the playoffs. Hockey is weird.

You cant make the playoffs in forst two months of season but you can def. miss them in that span. The devils are on that path, which is OK. Shero just needs to get assets for the guys that dont wanna hang around or not worth signing.

We cant lose another all star LW for nothing...

Bratt looked awesome last night. best player on the ice for NJD .

MOJO DOES NOT PAY D .

Seney looks fast and hundry also, so did the new D man VAKOVLEV .

Zajac looked good all year. and I liked him on that to pline . they were letting a lot of goals against in .

Nico looked good till he was Hurt.ANY UPDATE ???

Hall .Palmieri kept in check...

Hall-Zajac -Palmieri
Mojo-Nico -Bratt
Coleman - Seney -????
Wood -Boyle - Noesen /Anderson

Wood , Noesen , Mojo , Greene , Vats , Severson all had bad gamr s.thats too many players..
olus...

CORY WAS TERRIBLE AGAIN ... He made one great save all night and let in at least 2 easy easy ones.

Trade CORY ,TRADE QUENNEVILLE , TRADE WOOD , TRADE NOESEN .
If we are going to lose ,use the kids.

Quenneville is 22 and Wood 23. What age do you consider "kids?"

I thought Severson actually played pretty well last night all things considered. But Greene was awful again, and they simply can't pair him with Lovejoy in any scenario.

I’ve been a Schneider guy too but add in the his role in Brodeur leaving and us passing on Bo Hovart and maybe it hasn’t worked out well.

Yes none of it is his fault (I guess aside from him not playing well now but at a certain point I'm sure he's trying) but in retrospect the timing of Schneider's tenure here has been very poor.

I'm hopeful too, but I may or may not be over Parise leaving. NJ doesn't have the best track record of keeping high profile free agents. Hopeful Shero has one more trick up his sleeve.

On the bright side there is plenty of season left to turn it around, just hope we don't dig ourselves into too deep of a hole. As for Cory he should have stayed in the Bing for some more starts to get his rhythm, timing or whatever back before coming back.

I wonder...

If calling up Yak was to see if he can handle the NHL to allow Shero to trade Sev or Butch to Toronto for Nylander. Because Mueller wasnt playing bad at all.

Would you all be comfortable trading one of those guys and paying Nyl 8 mil a year ?

It would cushion the blow if Hall left or it will make him stay.

There is a maximum amount of time allotted in which you can have players on a conditioning stint. If he is healthy, he has to be on the team.

He played very well against Tampa in the playoffs last year. I think his struggles are recovery related; which means nothing because who knows if he’ll ever be the same. Plus being hung out to dry is exactly what he doesnt need.
