Hartman. Can’t wait for the Winter “Classic” to make fun of your crap team.

Didn’t the Preds just lift a banner in honour of most cowboy/cowgirl boots at a hockey game? - no wait I think it was actually cowboy/cowgirl hats.

I am reading The Breakaway, about the Wirtz family, the Hawks, and....

About half finished, so I don’t have the whole picture yet, but the Blackhawks were a completely dysfunctional organization - not just on the ice, but from a business standpoint.

McD has been in charge of the change to a modern sports franchise - profitable, good cash flow, high value - certainly helped along by some fortuitous actions (high draft picks, etc.) that led to three Cups and a good 8 or 9 year run (depending on how you define “good”).

A franchise that I doubt was worth $200MM (which is the beginning number people reference) is now worth over $1B. McD gets a lot of credit for that - and even f some of us don’t believe that, Rocky does.

McD leaves only on his terms and his timeline.

- StLBravesFan

agree...he is 65...rocky will never fire him....

McD is also the propaganda arm of the hawks...its hard for me believe he actually thinks this team is playoff worthy...but who knows

Holy s*** Carlsson (2nd goal on the season) has a Seabrook-esq shot. He just made it 2-1 in 4-4 hockey. Forsling looks good as a pp qb. Raddysh (4th goal on the season) made it 3-1 on a 5-3 pp.

They are already a bottom feeding team that looks like a lock for Top
5 in the lottery odds. Whatever man you want to trade Kane, fine. I vehemently disagree, unless someone is dumb enough to give you Barkov, Dahlin, Eichel, Matthews, Ect...it’s a loss in talent that’s almost irreplaceable

- EnzoD

Exactly my point. It is definitely a loss in talent in terms of current quality. Which will help the team lose games AND land a nice package of future picks and prospects. Let me ask what on earth is the point in keeping talent like Kane this season, or next season? What do we gain?

D. Sikura (5th goal on the season) made it 4-1 on the pp.
This is a really great sight after today's game. A team with effective special teams. A team that efficiently uses the push em back entry. 4-2 on a delayed penalty. Hogs start 3rd on the pp.

Nice feed from Ejdsell who looks like a cross between Hanzus and Anisimov.
Slow as Hanzus with hands of Anisimov.

I always thought of him as a heavy shooter kind of player, but he made a really nice pass to set up Sikura. It's great seeing those two rack up points. I wish he had better feet. Great catch.

Yes a coach is to play the players he given ,and Q did not .He was hell bent against any players Stan acquired.
And yes I have said Stan deserved some blame ,but not all of it not even close .

Oh he played most in their off side or over their head in the line-up or benched them for no real reason and then would press box them .I don't care what happens to Q coach are hired to be fired fact .

I still can't believe it's gone this long for Leafs and Nylander. I hope the same thing happens with Marner and Matthews haha.

Q never won anything unless team was stacked .He yelling at Stan were are my 15 Olympic players what do you want me to do . Try coaching or running a practice or a different scheme ,throwing players from line to line and benching players is not the answer and it the only one Q had . He drove talent out at below fair price ,after miss using them and benching them .
I am hopeful the new guy will begin to implement new schemes and tweak the line - up a bit ,good to show confidence in some players .

Again, don’t overlook the fact that by trading Kane now we wouldn’t just be getting top prospects/picks in return....we’d be turning ourselves into such a bad team that we’d have a realistic chance to possibly draft #1 or 2 overall in the upcoming draft, and again in next years draft.
- SimpleJack

Yeah, and you can enjoy watching them with the other 4,000 fans at the UC.
Let me be clear, if they ever traded Kane, it would be worse than when they let Bobby Hull go, and I, for one, would never watch them again.

Agreed. He will be a top line producer until he decides to retire. Nobody is giving up a Kane-level difference maker for a 30yr old at $10.5mil for 6 more years. And drafting top 3 is far from a sure thing. See Jesse Puljujarvi who was just sent to the AHL after being drafted 3rd in 2016.

i completely agree...you make this decision after the season or in March...this poor young coach doesn't stand a chance with this McD/Stanbow "playoff" roster...
- bogiedoc

I can't quite figure out the logic behind the timing. It was Election Day so they minimized the coverage. They had a few days off so there was some time to adjust. But the upcoming schedule is pretty tough.

The only thing I can come up with is that McD and Stan truly believe the roster is good enough to be winning and the coaching change would do the trick. That's why Stan needs to be fired, maybe McD too.

It would have made a lot of sense to wait as you suggest. Colliton was not dealt a good hand.

I’m not going thru rosters looking for your criteria - what does this have to do with past roster mistakes?

Consensus seems to be that the system has some quality potential NHL defensemen - possibly (not definitely, not even probably) enough develop to give them a set top four in two-three years. Luck yes - development more.

Kane still productive - Toews not worth $10.5 but still a quality center - develop Schmaltz into a quality NHL forward (now only in his third season at 22), Saad is quality, Sikura top-6 maybe, Ejdsell as a middle-6 power forward maybe - the likes of Kahun, Kampf, Johnson, Hayden - one or two become useful players - I don’t know who else is going to develop but that’s where this year’s draft, plus some trades and signings....

Look, I said with the right moves this was all possible. The cupboard isn’t full, but it’s not bare of potential and possible trade pieces. As I said, I dont think it’s definite or even probable - but certainly possible if they make good decisions and identify and develop the talent they have.

The question is - do they have the right decision-makers in control of the team?

- StLBravesFan

The answer is - NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

It's interesting to see how this board seems to have shifted to rebuild mode two games into Colliton's tenure as head coach. Nothing against him, but this start seems to indicate that the problem wasn't the coach, it was the roster.

It'll be interesting to see if the roster moves made between now and the TDL are to make a push for the playoffs, to retool for a playoff push next year or the year after, or does the front office clearly go into rebuild mode; as they probably should.

Great game by Delia. 4-3 win. He seems calm with a lot of pressure in his face. Moves well from post to post. I won't call him the goalie of the future, as I have only seen 1 game, but I did like watching him. If he keeps this up for the rest of the season, then I see our backup next year.

No, Stanbo will re-up Ward with a 2 year, $8M contract and Stan's standard NMC.
