I was going to say Gustafsson has played much better today with not over activating on offense and actually playing back (he even threw a hit in the 1st period). But then the play that he over commits on offense while on the PP, the team gets burned.

Slow motion- small players - no urgency-no one in front and passing to guys who are covered

14 consistently is a terrible passer

Joki started sloppy, turned it around. Keith was good, then helped CG score. Gus has been making better plays, but still has to make a bone head play. Even Rutta made a great recognition play that a Philly breakaway was ensuing. The d is just as good as they are bad. But this game should be a higher scoring game if it weren't for Crow.

Would like to see Hayden or Martinsen get in a tussle with Gudas. Then again, haven't the few possible fights the Hawks could have had this year get broken up by the linesmen?

Have liked how both Hayden and Martinsen have played today. Martinsen has generally been reliable with his simple, physical approach. Hayden is much better today playing a similar game. Get them a speedy center and that would also be a good 4th line if they can show consistency.

Ripping apart the pp. Said what the lines should be. Kane, Adb, Toews, Arty, and I can't remember the d. Keep it simple, get to scoring. Park asses in the blue paint. Turnovers happen, but HAVE to be reduced. Play smarter, pass better. JC as a coach is good, getting a pulse of the team and earning trust of the guys. But when losses add up and things don't change, he needs to act with conviction. Gus with the turnovers NEEDED to be benched. Players have roles, play that style or sit. Paraphrasing a little bit, but I liked what he said.

Take the reins and do things that will make the players pay attention. Keith coughs up the puck that leads to a goal, sit him for a bit. Tell Hayden he's out there for physical presence, etc. and if he doesn't play that way, he doesn't play, etc. etc.
