Hah yeah, on twitter back in early October (after a strong game by him) to some guy who continously bashes him.

His 5 point night against Columbus...

And guess what the guy bashing him probably watches him fail to backcheck

And no it's not me

Flyers continue to win the games I don't watch.
- hereticpride

It's been happening to me too save opening night in Vegas. So last night I'm watching - they're up 2-nil and then the 1st shorty thru Ghost's skates assisted by the linesman in the way and I got a client call. I get off my call an hour later and it's 4-4 heading to OT. I actually watched the OT and was very surprised they won.

FFS the penalty kill and SHGA. This is unreal and yet somehow the Flyers are 1 point out of 1st place. Still -7 on the year though.

If I could say one thing to him it'd be "pay attention to what you're doing on the ice and ignore the nitwits in the peanut gallery."

Tampa turns it over quite a bit. At least in the game I saw against Edmonton. And if their doing it against Edmonton I’d imagine it’s often. But they also make plenty of chances on their own. I think that’s how the best teams are operating. Let it fly. Let your skill win the scoring chance battle. Have an excellent goalie and most nights you’ll come out on top.

Not saying the flyers operate like this but I think the more progressive teams will live with a certain amount of mistakes

- Just5

It's not the 80's anymore. None of the best teams play that way. The best teams are very structured and consistent in their team play. The game is won and lost in the neutral zone and at the blue lines. No team wants to trade scoring chances and hope they come out on top.

Technically at least 3-4 due to games in hand but yeah... The negativity to this team right now is crazy. They've righted the ship for the most part other than the brain farts that end up behind a goalie.

JFC. you do realize that everything isn't black or white, that there are shades or grey, right?? Of course players have to look to themselves to play well, that goes without saying (well to everyone but you it does), but if you don't think how your teammates play doesn't affect your on ice performance than you really have no idea of how a team works.

For example: While I played wing at times, I mostly played D. I was a big guy, very physical with good skills, but I was far from the best skater in the world. However, if I knew that my partner was a strong skater, than I knew that I could take the occasional chance in the O zone because he had the speed to compensate if I got caught. However, if paired with a less effective skater, I'd play a more conservative game.

It's the same with your goalie. If I'm playing in front of a sieve, and lord knows, I'd played in front of a few, I'm going to go out of my way to block as many shots as possible. If I'm playing in front of a good goalie, I'm much less concerned with blocking shots and I'm much more concerned with keeping the porch cleared and making sure he can see the shot that is coming because I know that if he can see it, he's probably going to stop it.

For someone who claims to be the end all/be all of hockey knowledge, you really don't seem to have much of a grasp on how the inter-dynamics of a team really works. Players aren't robots, they have feelings and thoughts and confidence in both their own play, the play of their teammates and in the coaching staff all factor into their on ice performance.

I was a goalie for 10 years at a fairly high level, and when I was slumping I could tell my dmen were gripping their sticks tighter, trying to do too much to compensate for me being a sieve on that particular day. It's really a simple concept, no idea how he isn't grasping that.

The camp? Yes that’s the one.

I was at that camp when Richter was there. He’s a few years younger than me, so wasn’t on the ice with him much. I do remember he was a notch above everyone even back then.

I was not in the right state of mind,” said James Sparklin of his decision to post the video, adding that he’s been fired from driving after two and a half years. He told the Citizen he was intoxicated when he originally posted the video.
Sparklin said he made the decision to put the camera in his vehicle after an accident a few weeks prior to the incident with the Sens. He said there is nothing inside the vehicle to inform passengers that they’re being recorded, adding that Arizona law doesn’t require drivers to disclose the existence of a camera and that Uber encourages the use of cameras for drivers.
Sparklin said his intention for posting the video was to show other drivers the behaviour of high-priced athletes.
He said he hadn’t been prepared for seven passengers when he agreed to provide the ride, claiming he could be in hot water with his insurance company if he were to get into an accident carrying that many passengers. He said the decision to transport seven high-paid professional athletes “put me at high risk.”
“What really upset me the most was, if I were to get in an accident, I don’t believe the insurance would cover it. The million-dollar policy would go very fast,” he said.
Sparklin said he is worried about the effect of the video on his family and six children.
“I’m worried about my name getting out. My life being ruined and my children,” he said.

Yup, he was unreal. Even in drills it was almost impossible to beat him. He’s only 10 months younger than me so we were on the ice together a lot and even then, you could really see he was something special.

It wasn’t even his physical skills, hell I think he was all of 11 or maybe 12. It was his awareness of how to play goal. His positioning and angles, the way he tracked the puck, his focus was already like that of a pro.

You obviously didn't get the simple concept that I was posting about. It's a two way street and if players, who are making their own mistakes and not playing to a level that they're capable of and instead of looking at themselves are looking at someone else, then you have an issue on that team. I guess as a goalie you would also know how a team bleeding high quality chances and making turnovers leading to point blank chances, as well as giving up two shorthanded breakaways on one PP can affect a goalies play.

In summation, you didn't get the point.

I think you nailed it. Just do what you do and do it well. Like that song. Doing it and doing it and doing it well. We’re doing it and doing it and doing it well. Etc

9 points in 5 games.
I hear what you are saying but they are doing something right over this stretch.

There is so much panic. This team is fine. Young over all. They are playing better hockey and still winning some with a struggling special team play. JVR is even out.

I can only speak for myself, but I don’t think I’m panicking. I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t want them to go out and get another established NHL goalie to start the 25-28 or so games left that Elliott won’t start. Assuming of course, that the price to acquire him isn’t too steep.
