The put up 40+ shots and hit 3 or 4 goal posts last night and lost 2-1 without a star player for the entire 3rd period....
Are you planning on following this up with a blog about how the Capitals are consistently being outplayed every night, having given up 5 more goals in the same number of games, and have 2 more points than the "troubled" Pens? |

Losing Schultz for 4 months was a gut punch. Beyond that, the depth forwards are the problem because they aren't scoring.....at all. Kessel isn't going anywhere. He's been great. |

If Rutherford trades Phildo he should be fired on the spot.... In a league where scoring is at a premium, trading a guy who can fill it like Phildo is asinine.  |

Since the GM on the Pittsburgh side is Rutherford, look for something to come of this. He is one of the finest Hockey traders in the business. He makes moves that you can step back from and see how both sides wanted to make the deal.
I can see Kessel going to either Carolina, LA, Anaheim or San Jose. Why? They have things that the Penguins need. Puck moving defensemen who can take care of the defensive part of the job description...and they have enough of them that they would be willing to make a trade.
In the Kings case, the trade would be a serious horse trade/culture shift....cause I could see Doughty for Kessel plus happening.
I can see Kessel to the Ducks, but not 100% who is coming back.
Phil will add speed and offense to any team he is dealt too...but he will not add much in the way of two way play. |

We need to use Sprong in the top 6 to see what he can do with talented players. I know we just signed Hornqvist to a long extension but his contract is going to get old quick. Don't know if trading him is the answer but he needs to show that he can play in the bottom six, preferably the 3rd line. |

Did you watch ANY of the games during this streak? Yes, there have been some seriously bad moments but they owned the Isles in half of the second loss and dominated the Caps all night last night.
The season is a marathon...not a sprint. |

Lead the team in scoring for the playoffs - Cup win and should have won the Conn Smythe
Second in playoff scoring and another cup
second in regular season and career high in pts
You don't get him for his 200 foot game. If you think that, you are dreaming. You get him to net pts and score goals.
Time was not right in Toronto - not going to happen but I would bet if Kessel came back to Toronto now, people will easily forget Willy whats his name. |
