Seriously, It's easy to blame him when you look at the score, but he prevented the Rangers from having a 6-3 lead after 2 periods.
On the goals he gave, I'd say the bad rebound he coughed up was bad. Other than that, goals came from pucks bouncing on his defenders and back on the opponents' stick. The Pionk goal was also weak, but the whole team watched the guy skate around them.
As I said earlier here, I don't like his contract, and they are stupid for investing that much in a goaltender, for that long.
...but it's also stupid to blame him after every loss, especially after his team gave grade A chances to the opposition all night yesterday. There is more to it than save average and percentage. |

Domi's take on Tanner:
James Tanner is really lighting it up for Hockeybuzz, and good for him. He's got nine brain cells and a 16 or 15 sperm count, and that's nice and all, but let's not get too excited.
He has a sky-high EGO and the words are just writing themselves.
EE has a five star career and remains the superior blogger, so let's everyone relax.
I don't really like Tanner. In my opinion, he embodies why people don't like bloggers in the first place, and he makes lots of uneducated comments when he clearly has no idea what he's talking about. I was happy when they gave him the Arizona Coyotes and I'm still happy.
EE all day every day and twice on Sundays.

That's not what I'm saying.
I just don't think it's fair to pin the loss last night solely on his head.

I think the bottom line is that there is currently NO goalie in the league that would be unanimously given the type of salary that Price is getting.

yeah, and the Luongo contract should have been a warning.
That's the problem with this team...always build from the net up, the goaltender is always the cornerstone. They need to get away from that. |

As much as I'd like that, I'm also a bit concerned about the circus he might cause... But hey, it would be entertaining for sure! |

Except Luongo was a metronome back there. Price has 3-4 pretty bad season in his carreer. |

I disagree. I think he made some huge saves. Unfortunately, he dropped a shot he should have handled and that led to everything. |

Let's all ignore how they completely failed to close the books on that 4 minutes powerplay and let the Rangers play them like fiddles by being physical, getting them all riled up and off their game. |

The whole team was bad from that point on. It's just not was you expect from a 10.5M player. When he signed that contract he put himself in the same category has Tavares, Kane, McDavid ect. time to step up boy. |

And that's the thing, goaltenders are a different animal. Tavares could go for five games without registering a point, and it wouldn't be the end of the world, but for a goaltender to have consecutive bad games, or even periods, is a big deal... especially in a city where everyone is under the microscope such as Montreal. |

I don't think there is a position more scrutinized in the entire league than goaltender for the Canadiens. |
