Down a goal with 3 min left and Kunitz forcing cross ice pass opposed to throwing it at the net with 15 crashing the paint.

Game over, loss. Manning is brutal lol.

- EnzoD

Or shooting...Kunitz could have walked and wired but he's washed up.

Typical Bowman move. Sign a geriatric on vapor. Bring back old faces i.e. Kruger and keep going heavy with Euro Charmin.

Wasting PRIME YEARS of 19 and 88.

Whew boy, bad period did them in. Not a good finish to a game well within their reach.

Is there a GM out there as dumb as Stan who might cough up a top 4 defenseman for Schmaltz?

Another horrific 3rd period. Out of gas = Out of shape. Typical for recent Q teams.
Country Club practices and too much time off. No wonder his players love him.
Brutal PP is last in the league and the PK is soft as usual.

O for 3 on this Canada trip just might create a STIR !! Team is fading fast.

With Manning he's very bad but there is effort. With Nick Schmaltz there is totally no effort, no push. Supposed to be their #2 center. 3rd year in the league now - just a ballerina out there.

The Hawks are not a good team. They have some areas of their game where they are just plain bad and those will jump and bite them more games than not. If Crawford plays otherworldly maybe they win but he can't do that every game. The Hawks can't pull the puck off the boards - as a team they must be the worst in the league at doing that simple hand/eye puck control on the stick. That one area alone dooms them because they can't pick it clean the opposing players get on them and they get hemmed in because (1) they get running around and (2) they lose the majority of board battles so they lose possession more than they should. Add in that the passing was off and they're lucky they lost by only 2.

Oh well, the Edmonton roadrunners tomorrow - that should be fun. Meep meep. The Hawks should come out with ACME across their jerseys.

No sense of urgency from the GM. Just a ho-hum, sign every bum off-season.
We've had our run lads. It was F'N GLORIOUS too. With Stanbo in charge though in 2018.....we're F'D.

He's definitely not front-and-center like DBC in all the team's promo videos, etc. I take that (maybe incorrectly) as a sign that the jury within the FO is still out on him.

Yes well past time for a change behind the bench . Time for someone willing to work with young players ,and not bench and press box them . No more old washed up vet's being given top minutes . And driving decent players out because they can't fit Q old antiquated style .. Move on Q you have not got the fire anymore ..GO HAWKS !!!

Mirror start to last season. Strong start for the first week or so and then wammo. Not a good team.

I was hopeful after the Hawks start but overall I think this is a developmental year for the Hawks. Not ideal with Kane, Toews, Seabrook and Keith all getting older but there's not much else the can do. It's not like the Hawks prospect pool is filled with prime candidates that can be dealt for short term players. At some point the team has to let their prospects develop and see what they have. For me this season is about the development of key young players. Some of done well while others haven't done so well (yet). That's not to say the under-performers are busts and need to go, they just haven't shown the desired consistency yet.

The good - DeBrincat, Jokiharju, Kahun

The not-so-good - Schmaltz

Too soon to tell - Fortin

Guys like Kunitz, Hayden, Martinsen, Manning, Rutta, and Davidson are all placeholders at best. None of them add much value and wouldn't play significant roles on a contender.

I think Stan needs to make a move soon, not necessarily a blockbuster but he needs to do something.

I was going to mention that this start is eerily similar to last years.

Overall, I like this 2018-19 team better the way they are constructed.

With that being said, this appears like a bubble team at best... and will be a bubble team fighting for every point in every game for the entire year.

They should have took 2 points in the last 2 games IMO.

Let's see how they do tonight. We can only hope a refreshed Kane is back in.

I was hoping Hayden turned into something but his skating is just bad.

Tie again. 2-2. Crow isn't good on top shelf shots tonight. Virtanen again. He knows to keep going high on Crow.

Goals were in the corners, perfect shots. Guy had all day from snipe range. Can't hang those on the goalie.

There is still lots to be excited about with this team. There are lots of question marks too but comparing year-over-year the team is in a much better place now. The core is playing better and the youth is starting to contribute more (I just can't say enough good things about Jokiharju). I'm not expecting a championship year, I just want to see an improvement over last year and to see signs of long term future success.

My only gripes with the team are the defense, I'm just not a fan of Manning, Davidson and Rutta.

I'm not surprised there, I didn't expect much from Hayden just yet and I was surprised he made the team. Whenever the team feel Sikura is ready my guess is that Hayden goes back to Rockford.

Unless his skating changes I am not expecting anything from him. His stride reminds me or Morins. Lots going on but he doesn't go anywhere.

I hope we see some shuffling on the lines.

Kahun to me isn't effective lately.
The third line has speed but lacking some chemistry and/or muscle.

I kinda hope Q blenders a bit and loads up a bit more. One option maybe...

i.e.

Schmaltz - Toews - Saad
DeBrincat - AA - Kane
Hayden- Johnson- Kahun
Fortin- Kruger - Kampf

or maybe if they do stick with the same top 6, try to get some chemistry on line 3. I.e. Schmaltz has the puck a lot but needs someone to create a little space. Maybe the hot hand from Rockford should get a look? Ejdsell could shoot some pucks if Schmaltz gets it on his stick and he can drive the net and create space. Not sure.

If they don't shuffle the lines, then I think the message to the team has to be to simplify. A lot of the issues were mistakes at the blue lines again. D-men pressing in aggressively while they make a risky pass. Trying to force a long pass up the middle instead of just clearing the puck...etc..

I know he is your boy (pick to make the team) but I could see Johnson going back again too.
