2 goals in 2 games against backup goalies on this road trip. They had point blank chances and couldn't put the puck in. Is there anything positive to take from this game? Anything?
- EbonyRaptor

Yes there is something positive coming out of these losses, but it might still take another month. You will see a wholesale change of the coaching staff and Stan will be on the "hot seat" to bring at least 2 quality players on board to correct this undermanned team or his "ship" will be sailing after this season.

Yes: their PP is the perfect example of a bad example!

Gotta love Keith still thinking he has a good enough shot to beat an NHL goalie ... when he hasn't had an NHL shot in ... ever? But somehow he ends up taking more shots than anyone else on the PP. How does that happen? Could it possibly be it continues to happen because Q continues to put Keith out there AND Keith decides to to take those weak shots when more often than not there isn't any net front presence so the goalie sees it and makes the easy save.

This team is just like water, finding it’s level.
I don’t get to excited like many about their hot start.
They’re not a good tram nor a horrible team, they just are what they are.
Until they do change some of the personnel and or the coaching staff it’s gonna be the same hockey as last year.
I can get behind a rebuild but not behind a dough head that thinks bringing in a winger who is washed up, a defensemen who is just plain bad and a goalie with a 4+ goals against and thinking they are gonna be successful, that’s something I just can’t get behind.
I won’t even start with the coaching staff...

I still haven't gotten to the point where I hope Q gets replaced. I have crossed the line on hoping Stan gets replaced though. Stan hasn't been as bad as many Hawks fans say, IMO, but he has made 2 trades that have ended up being terrible trades for the Hawks - the Panarin/Saad and Hjalmarsson/Murphy trades. What Stan saw as cost certainty in making those trades has ended up being losing certainty. Results matter and Stan has earned his ticket out of town in my opinion. Hopefully he doesn't make more bad decisions and make more trades to try to salvage this season - it is not salvageable so don't do something to hurt the team next year or the year after.

There is truly no explanation for the swap of Hammer/Murphy. The Pro Scouting Dept that thought Manning and Murphy were good players....yikes. You can make the argument that Saad should have been better in his return, and is a useful player on a good team while Panarin will likely price himself out of Chicago next summer. I simply don't see the logic in trading your best defensive Dman, youngest dman of "the core", who has an affordable cap hit. Murphy is a a significant downgrade in talent...at essentially the same cap hit.....for several more years. While an improvement over Manning-Davidson-Rutta, Connor Murphy is no messiah for this defensive group.

I missed the Oilers game. Just saw the game review on google. WTF are Davidson and Manning doing. They absolutely stink. GUFSTISON what a joke. My grand mother who has been dead 40 years plays better defense than those clowns.

Does anybody really think Bowman and company are going to make the right trade if they do move smaltz plus that would be another 1st round bust and bad scouting. Hawks are .500 team at best they will finish in the bottom 3rd of the league and trend water the rest of season win a couple look really good then lose a couple look really bad. The holes on the team from last year are still holes on the team this year, and that is on BOWMAN!! So if by the end of Nov hawks a sinking ship Bowman should be fired and its time for Rocky to grow a pair and make changes.

Probably happens when no one is putting up any sort of effective screen - and they get through.

Reading the rest of your post - yes, that is probably it, lacking netfront presence -- so did he run out of time or something? Or was it frustration, and just shoot? Sounds like something a team I was on would have done ... just shoot from anywhere (usually lost those games, and worse still couldn't get any shots off.). Sounds ugly.

Another way to look at things - The league has had 10 years to figure out Q's system, and it has. Q is a great coach, but his shelf life has expired. Time for change (unless #loseforHughes is in play), then cut ties at the end of season.

It's quickly turning into a long, frustrating season for our Hawks and as much as I held out hope for Nick Schmaltz it looks like he's better off on Euro ice.

I looked up the last 5 games he's played in this, a contract year. 1 assist and 6 SOGs. In 2 of those games he had no SOGs including the VAN game where he incredibly had zero shot attempts in 14+ minutes of ice time. And for you advanced stats guys, he was buried in all phases that game. No surprise he was scratched last night.

For the year, he does lead the team in takeaways with 14. He also leads the team in giveaways with 12. He had a nice season last year but, he can't get motivated even in a contract year?

I've also seen enough of Eric Gustafsson. Whatever offensive upside he has does not make up for his lack of defense. He is not Erik Karlsson 2.0.

I noted after about 8 games this team is on pace to cough up 300 plus goals this year; after 13 (51 GA, 4 g/gm) games that is 321. They right there with the flyers and deadwings

worst in their division by far; blows with 42 GA

get this the coyotes have allowed 30 less goals at 21

they got early fire power overcome some of that but not enough to overcome the whole season...4 GA per game get you a ticket for the lottery PERIOD!

unforced errors leading to turnovers; high quality transition and odd mans are killing them

how do you beat the hawks; pressure the puck, force them to the outside and wait for their mistakes...

pk has improved the pp continues to be amateur time..

He simply gets tired of everyone passing the puck around and says fine if nobody’s going to shoot the dang thing I will.

That was bad. Bad enough to put me in a bad mood for staying up later on consecutive nights.

My thoughts:

Our 5 and 6 got exposed for what they are really- 7 and 8’s.

Just a plethora of bad breakout passes from all 6. Is that Ulfie’s job to coach this aspect?

Anisimov constantly coughs up the puck while trying to enter the zone.

Our forwards can’t seem to gather pucks in front of the net.

40 shots but only a handful were scoring chances it seems.

Lots of perimeter skating and unnecessary passing.

Our team really looked like a bunch of aging vets and undrafted players last night.

Kane looks under the weather.

Kunitz is on our second line and was on TB’s fourth. Shows the talent disparity between the teams.

Yup. A good possibility of a loss this Saturday night then no game scheduled until Thursday at home. Several days to maybe make some changes?

The hawks problems span further than just Schmaltz. Consistency, passing, defending, and scoring are plaguing nearly the whole team, if not the whole team. PK is slowly getting better, PP is not getting better. Wrong guys on the 2 units, a lot of pasing, and perimeter play.
