What’s missing?

A legit 2C

A legit 3C

2-3 wingers to play in the top 9 and provide scoring

A legit top pairing defenseman

A legit 3rd defensive pairing

A good power play

A good PK

Other than that we’re in good shape

Completely agree. Totally senseless violence....good for the Penguins to acknowledge the pain this caused.

Why move Keith? He is still an effective D-man with a very reasonable contract. You will not be getting anywhere near what his value to this team is. With the depth of the defensemen in the system, Keith is EXACTLY the player you would like to keep around and mentor them as they mature and become NHL d-men. If Boqvist, Beaudin, Mitchell, Krys, or any of the others matriculate to the NHL and are productive like Jokiharju has been so far, as Keith ages he is perfect at some point to move into the 2nd then 3rd pairing.
- TheTrob

The armchair Gm's on this site seem to think Keith will get a 1st round pick and a young good player and a blue chip prospect.

McD won't ever allow, changing marketing
mid season would incur costs, lower profit
margins........hockey smarts the guy don't
have.

Q either sending a message to Kruger or he will be scratched.

I suspect the defence will be the same as last game.

Crawford starts.

I take it the message has something to do with penalties. He's a great pker, good at the dot, hits people ... must be stop taking penalties, especially in the o zone for God sakes.

My guess, older guys with expiring contracts go. Maybe Anisimov, I don't want him gone, but he was shopped last year tdl. Maybe Murphy. Kunitz or Kruger for depth. Rutta, Davidson. Guys with nmc/ntc are staying. I don't see them waiving and I don't want them too. I don't know, if hogs are doing well, maybe minor ahl trades. If we're bad, we're looking for picks and space. Open roster spots to see what we have marinating in Rock as well as getting cap ready for extensions.

Barring a spate of injuries that they can't recover from, I expect the Hawks will stay in the playoff race because 5 teams could make it from the Central.

If that doesn't happen the pieces I would move by trade or waivers are Gustaffson, Rutta, Kruger maybe Hayden maybe Kampf, I.e. not the players you mentioned.

It's not just that it is inappropriate for a hockey message board, it's also that there is no point to it. Deep seeded beliefs, such as political and religious, are not swayed by internet arguments. The point being there's no point in doing it.

I'm not advocating for moving Keith, i think he should retire a hawk, but out of the core, that is the only one i would even slightly consider since we have his replacement already. Better to have both though, so i completely agree with you

All right, Star - I’ll say one more thing, then leave you guys to your ignorance.

Last Saturday, the Jewish community of this country - me and several million others - saw the worst anti-Semitic attack in this country ever.

Eleven people were killed just because they were Jews. You won’t understand any of this, I’m sure, but it made all of us think about the Holocost, Russian pogroms - all of the things that happened long ago in other places - but it happened here, in my country, in the United States - where things like this aren’t supposed to happen to anyone.

If you don’t have the empathy to be sympathetic, then please have the decency to keep quiet and not subject the rest of us to your ignorance.

Hawkytalk, you(?) were mentioning a few pages ago how bad our special teams are. I suspect Dineen still has a job only because the brass realize the driving force on special teams is and has always been Q. Otherwise, what are they doing after years (now) of embarrassing showings.

From a Devils Athletic writer: https://theathletic.com/6...ill-room-for-improvement/

"power plays are increasingly deadly"

"The 4F1D has a long track record as being more effective than a 3F2D. As a rule, you’ll give up a little more but you’ll score a lot more. So teams are spending more time with a player mix that’s more conducive to scoring. The 4F1D has a long track record as being more effective than a 3F2D. As a rule, you’ll give up a little more but you’ll score a lot more. So teams are spending more time with a player mix that’s more conducive to scoring.

Most of them are anyway – the league still has a few oddball holdouts.

The NHL’s the sort of league where if you do something different and you don’t have success, you’ll draw a lot of negative attention. As Los Angeles, Carolina, Chicago and Nashville look for answers as to why their power plays are struggling so much, one of the first questions that they might want to ask is why they’re giving so much ice time to defencemen. They’re out of step with league norms and not doing well.

One of the questions that comes up when you look at power play groups is why a 4F1D is so much more successful. A big part, I think, is that they tend not to be built around point shots. The NHL has moved a long way from the 1980s, when a defenceman could reasonably expect to score on a point shot. With goalies being as good as they are, there are few players who can score from the blueline and there are more efficient ways of attacking. If you’re running a 4F1D, your forwards should be attempting a greater percentage of your shots and they should be doing so from closer to the net.

Looking at the share of shots attempted by defencemen this year, we see that the teams letting their defencemen shoot more tend to have lousy power plays.

One other thing that’s been striking this year, although it’s hard to prove with data (until the tracking data comes online) is the extent to which power plays have become more fluid, with players popping up in different locations and moving off the puck in the offensive zone. "

Trade Kruger, kunitz, and rutta for picks/prospects at trade deadline, add some pieces around the edges over the summer and wait for next year

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Let this star shed some light for you. What happened in Pittsburgh was terrible and I hate that there is such hatred in the hearts of some people that they would carry out something like that. I feel terrible for the families and friends of the victims and I feel empathy for the utter horror and anger that they must be feeling. But you know what, I felt that way before you brought it here to this hockey message board and I'm sure everyone else here that has a heart felt that way too. In other words there's no point in bringing that up here on this hockey message board because all of us that are capable of empathy already felt empathy and the few who don't have empathy for the victims of hate crimes aren't all of a sudden have a change of heart because of your post on this message board. Your posting this stuff accomplishes nothing other than disrespecting the rest of us who come to this board to escape the ugliness of real life and to a more important point your posts disrespects us by presuming we need you to be our conscience.

Calling everyone ignorant, now it's a personal attack.

No one said that the tragedy wasn't horrible, or that our hearts don't want to reach out to the suffering families, or we aren't empathetic. I try my best not to speak for everyone, I have a hard enough time pinpointing my own thoughts as I grow and flesh them out more, but who here on the boards, American or Canadian, is going to speak of the good to come from that day?

No one, it was a horrific event, we aren't robots though, we don't know the pain, misery, or suffering of what happened to the victims or what is going on inside the families of the victims. One can assume high on all 3 scales. My thoughts, my condolences, and my prayers are and always will be out to them as well as with them. You posting didn't affect that, but apparently you want to see it because you won't leave it alone.

I/we can't do anything to change what happened. The sun still comes up and new days keep coming. The world we live in is full of tragedy and sadness, it must be for a shooter to go into a synagogue and kill 11 people. There is nothing that can change this, sad to say, tragedies are going to keep popping up. Vegas shooting, school shootings ... events I hate seeing, but have become to be expected. Yes, it sucks, my heart goes out to everyone. It doesn't matter who is in office/has power, bad people carry out their evil regardless. We can't stop or prepare, it is sad though when the suffering was brought on by human hands.

With all of this said, you can't keep posting this here. It's the code of conduct rules. You wouldn't go to a political discussion board and talk hockey, so why do it here? What is the minority going to do, seeing as that is us without any power? We can't change/make any coaching decisions, or trade players, we can hardly agree on anything hockey related. So how will we have a say in what the White House does for a plan of action? This is a distraction for some, people handle traumatic events differently (whether it happened to them or not.) Just because we don't discuss it doesn't mean we don't feel it. We don't want to feel it 24/7. It's everywhere already, don't bring it to the boards.

Whether the families of the victims want it or not, start a GoFundMe Page for them, if one isn't already started. Donate or do something, instead of telling us how to feel and how to think and how to act. Go be an activist and save the world that way.

How about substituting your own words insofar as the "presents Stan will not give Joel" in a 12 day's of Christmas jingle?

Only keep the mind it is more likely time frame of the 12 days before the trade deadline.
