Why do people get hard ons over longevity stats? You could take any goalie, and if you let him play long enough, the guy would rack up wins

Roy >>> Price - Doesn't matter how many wins Price can accumulate... Whats he ever "Won"?

Whats he ever won?

Where should I start... litterally everything, but a Stanley Cup? And who knows what would have happened in 2014 if not for kreider running him.

Thanks for the comments guys.

As for the what's he ever won question, well, games and heck of a lot of them in the pressure cooker that is Montreal. Roy is and will always be my favorite goalie but imagine how many wins he could have had for the Habs? Oh and Price also won Olympics gold which Roy didn't

unrelated sort of, but I had this issue when the NHL released its top 100 list and had names like mike gartner on it while leaving some others (*cough malkin*) off it

Price deserves some praise vs Roy. I won't disagree though that Roy was huge when it counted and Price hasn't met that particular plateau. I would point out the differences in supporting casts. No small feat to be #2, likely to be #1 b season end, in franchise history. Those Colorado teams are arguably better than any team Roy won with.

Thank you! Everyone was pleading Hudon's case lately but to me, we haven't seen enough of Scherbak to write him off yet. I mean Delarose had quite a few more opportunities to prove himself before he was waived. The clock is ticking when Plekanec's back is healed, Schlemko's healthy and Weber is ready, something will have to give...

I very much agree with this point, I was certainly surprised at some of the omissions from that list.

I think it's fair to say that Roy's cup wins in Colorado were far more star-studded and the 2001 Cup run was also lead by a whole team wanting to get Ray Bourque a cup at long last. That being said, if Price was to deliver the Habs to the promise land in the very near future, his team wouldn't be all that different from the 1986 and 1993 editions stardom wise.

Nah a magic eight ball i just meant that as things stand, theres not much star power amongst our Habs...so much so that no one expected the start they’re enjoying

Because teams don't take any goalie and just let him play long enough to rack up wins. You have to earn and keep your starter status as an NHLer.

There are lots of goalies who are great for a few seasons and relatively few who are excellent over a long career. Guys like Holtby and Rask certainly had some great, great years and will get a lot of wins because they're on great teams. But consistency wise they blow compared to Roy or Broduer.
