Good teams have bad performances all the time. The 2010 Hawks got slaughtered a bunch of times in the regular season. It didn't stop them from winning the Cup. This is one game in October on the 2nd night of a back to back(yes I know TB is as well) and they're having a bad game. But it's one game in October. When the Hawks outplayed teams and won in OT people said it was lucky. Not that they earned it. You can't have it both ways.

4 GA for I think the 4th time in 8 games.

Hawks aren’t good enough to overcome that kind of give-up.

Especially not with the complete lack of scoring other than The Big Three. Last three games - Gus scored, nothing else; Kruger scored then 3 from AdB and Kane; tonite Fortin and nothing else. If the Big Three don’t score multiple goals, they don’t win.

I am sure you can find many times in 2010 when the Hawks allowed 100 shots total in back to back games. For 3 straight games they've been pretty much easily obliterated, Crow saved them one time. Last night they had FOUR hits. They can't defend, they are soft and have to completely rely on goal tender heroics or the occasional blowup games from 88 and a couple others.

It's pretty clear at worst this is a bottom feeder team, at best it's one in transition that simply lacks depth of talent.

Outside of that, comparing this group to that one (albeit I know you were not-at least I hope- saying the talent was comparable) is high comedy.

Thankfully you almost assumed I wasn't comparing the talent level. That's good. I wasn't. It was an example of an extreme. Yeah, that was a horrifying period, but it was one period in one game in one season. The Hawks have had more good periods than bad so far this season, and they are not the bottom feeder everyone wants them to be right now.

As nice as it's been getting these points early in the season, they do need to be sellers at the trade dead line. Cats a nice building block so is Joki, but so many others they can trade, I'd even trade Schmaltz

I hate saying this but it probably be wise to bring in a new young coach for this team

Just yuck yuck yuck

If changes happen, it needs to start with Bowman. I am growing more impatient with Q as well, but not sure any coach could win with this group...players like Manning, Davidson, Kunitz, and a couple others should either be out of hockey or in the minors.

Rutta makes some nice plays offensively, like that pass to Fortin, but any kind of pressure and he can be counted on to make a terrible play - either give or fumble the puck away. He needs to go. The trouble is the Hawks don't have anyone better to replace him. Manning sure isn't the answer and neither in Davidson. Maybe it's time to get Dahlstrom up from Rockford and send Davidson packing.

Hard to really know, but If it will get rid of Bowman, then fine by me.

I agree with everything, but unfortunately the first firing is always the coach, then eventually the GM.

If Murphy and Forsling were healthy Davidson wouldn't have a job, so I don't think the defense can be judged quite yet. Manning is a fine 6/7 D. Davidson.... I don't think he's gonna stick around.

two words: relentless and exposed

Q talked about the hawkjs being relentless...well they have not; however the bolts tonight have been if not for ward this game is 8-1 or 2; domingue has been good

exposed: hawks are being skated out of the building; they can't hang with great skating team like the bolts

and both teams played and travelled last night...

they require great goaltending just to stay in games

Maybe not right now because of the fluke record, but we will be in the coming months if we keep playing like this(which we will because our roster sucks).

My game highlight was watching his interview during the first intermission. First time I recall one of the hawks being larger than the female interviewer!

q has always preached defensive responsibility: forget about it with this bunch

they had a decent 3rd last night but wow game after game: turnovers, breakaways, odd mans, poor pens...

Ward’s given up 4 so far tonight; and he’s probably been the hawks’ best player. Saad has been strong, too!

They just can't win any board battles at all, that was way too easy.
