Anthony Travalgia: Not hitting the panic button on Tuukka Rask...yet Tuukka Rask had another rough night Wednesday in Calgary as the Bruins fells to the Flames, 5-2.

I think you summed it up nicely. Tuukka haters are annoying but his play right now is a huge issue. He is sucking. The B’s came out flying and had a bunch of chances early, but Smith made some big saves. The second Calgary flipped the ice and got their own chances the puck was in the net. It’s the classic case of “you can’t really blame Tuukka, but when’s the last time he helped?”

I think a lot of people will say Tuukka made some big saves last night, but I’d argue he’s making the saves look harder than they need to. His reaction time on cross ice passes is (frank)ing pitiful, he can barely make a toe save on the most rudimentary cross crease pass

Edit: don’t get me started on his ability to find the puck through a screen. Maybe the worst goalie in the league at it

I've been commenting about this for a while now and get roasted just about every time, but Rask isn't what you think he is.
He is however...
Mentally weak
Unable to move laterally quickly
Terrible with high danger chances.
A guy who constantly looks at his defensemen after he let's in softies.
A smug pos.
Entitled, after that ridiculous contract.
Sure he made some good saves after giving up 4, but c'mon guys,
Give Halak the net already.

Tuukka has too big of a cap hit to not be an elite, consistent goalie.

Halak is playing better and should be played while he is hot, Rask makes me so mad when he gives up weak goals. Play Halak and lots. Halak can be a lights out goalie for stretches so use him.

Maybe it's time for Bruins fans to admit that the Leafs won that trade.

I'm not saying he can't catch lightning in a bottle like his best season in MTL...

but I don't think his glove is THAT good.

Out of curiosity I had to look up Raycroft... boy did the Bruins sell high on him. His numbers... with the exception of his last year with Boston are horrific.

How so? The Bruins have many seasons with Rask where's he's played well enough. He won a vezina, took them to a final. What did you get out of Raycroft and Justin Pogge exactly? Nothing? That's right you got (frank) all. You lost that one like Toronto loses at everything else.

Looking at him now in his decline and asking that question is most Leafs thing ever.

What drives me nuts about Tuukka (I’ve said the before). Is that he’ll make 2 or 3 spectacular saves, and the fail to stop a soft 40 foot dribbler. Seems like he lacks focus,
I’d say ride halak and hopefully Rask finds his drive again

Rask will be fine! ..the bonus for this team. .IMHO is the youth group that will be instrumental in the latter part of the season. .as will Halak going down the stretch with hopefully Rask being fresh for the playoffs ..this team has a great mix of vets and youth in both the forward group and in the backend!

My problem with Rask is he always gets off to a slow start, his season seems to start in late November, while the rest of team starts in October. That’s unacceptable for a top 5 paid goalie. I believe he will find his game ( even though his game is go butterfly really early, and hope guy can’t shoot top shelf ). But his numbers will improve from his early season.

The 2 points you earn for wins in October is the same for games you win in March , how many points did Bruins miss playoffs in 16 and 17? $7M a year, has to better.

Rask, Above average goalie earning Top 5 goalie money

Afternoon sir.
My own prognostication is not so gentle. 7-2 Bruins. Your top line scores 6, McDavid scores 2.

I’m cute as (frank) and smell like bacon. Eventually everyone sees things my way.
