Good read, but...

Aaron Ekblad, a first overall pick, is a top 15 defenseman in the league, on his way to being a top 10.

I respectfully disagree.

I'll second that. He has settled in as a good to very good, but not elite NHL defenseman.

Yes, but his beard is already elite.

Good read... but both the Hurricanes and Kings have won the Stanley cup and missed the playoffs the following year since the Devils👍🏼

Can't wait to see Leafs and Panthers play, two teams that can score but who both seem to think that defense is optional....
As to attendance, many will praise fans on the Island or this year Ottawa for not supporting a poorly run team, yet they bash Panthers fans for the same thing....while conveniently overlooking the fact that the Panthers organIzation has been Melnyk-ing around for most of their existence.

My aunt and uncle relocated from the Philadelphia area to Miami about 15 years ago. The year that the Panthers won the division (2012, I think), their season tickets for club box seats cost them $250 each FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON. For two of them to go to 44 games (counting preseason), and sit in a club box, it cost them a total of $500. The next year, due to the team's success, they jacked up the price to a whopping $500 for season tix in the club box. Heck, if I lived anywhere near the arena, I'd feel bad if I DIDN'T buy season tickets at that price. So say what you want about ownership, but the owner certainly wasn't raping fans for ticket sales.

With the yearly crap show on ice, they had to resort to giving them away. For years, the only reason to go to a Panthers game was to watch the Lu show, or to see the star players on the visiting team. They never built anything for the local fans to get behind, no matter how cheap the tix.
