I've noticed the same 'Referee Review Process' with myself...
Bruins win = Good ref,
Bruins lose = We got screwed. lol

Paul seems to me at one time but maybe no longer that the NHL had a substitute ref who sat in the stands and watched the game but was there in case of injury, sickness whatever. When something happened that a ref got injured that substitute would dress and do the rest of the game. I am getting old, am I right saying this or was this never the case?

Good officials keep their availability updated on a regular basis, it is part of the job, sometimes junior officials do not understand that, emergencies happen of course, but if everyone keeps their availability current in makes assignors jobs easier and they will be able to find a replacement. Coaches evaluations are nice, but often slighted, in addition, on lower levels and youth work there are many coaches who simply do not know the rules, and have never heard of getting the feel of a game.

All of this is quite true. It is a pet peeve when officials do not have up-to-date availability. Dealt with a few this people weekend who listed themselves as available and were not, which wasted time in finding a replacement. It's aggravating when it happens.

Regarding coach feedback, agreed there as well. However, you get to know whose feedback to put stock in and who to thank for their input but take with many grains of salt.

Very true, the best evals come from seasoned and hopefully unbiased senior officials the problem is not enough guys willing to do it without compensation, and compensation not coming. Either way it makes it tough on new guys trying to break through.
