Saad said he didn't know he'd be wearing white until he walked into the locker room before practice. Saad and Q did not talk beforehand, although they did meet prior to Saturday's game.

Brandon Saad: "I don't think anyone wants to be wearing white around here. But it is what it is and there's nothing you can do but keep trying to improve. It's their job to make the call to put the best team out there to win hockey games."

Maybe it’s just me but I’m detecting a bit of an attitude problem brewing.

A few more practice days before Thursday. Saad already moved down to line 3 then 4, maybe the White Jersey is Q's way of sending him the strongest message he can send him that its time to s h i t or get off the pot. A few practices in the White jersey and then he starts on Thursday to see if the message was received.

This! That book "Behind the Bench" by Craig Custance, walks through the most historic games through the eyes of the best coaches in the league. Q walks them through the 2010 Cup clincher and some other stories as well. It's mentioned quite a bit how much of a players coach he is. If that's the case, it is really puzzling that Saad didnt seem to get the message after being put on the 3rd and 4th lines.

Could Brandon Saad be a healthy scratch the same week Anton Forsberg is waived?

If so, Stan Bowman is looking really... really bad for the following:

June 23rd, 2017: CHI trade Panarin, Motte to CBJ for Saad, Forsberg.

Don't really want to move Schmaltz, think you need to let these guys mature, but I'd probably do that.

Although, that really doesn't solve Toronto's issue.

The question probably is which Dman would you move for Nylander?

i would be ok trading schmaltz. he appears to be contact adverse, has not shown much interest in shooting the damn puck and his FO% is brutal.

I like Murphy a lot, but I could move him. He spent a lot of time in Q's doghouse when he first came here. I don't know if him alone would get the trade done. Schmaltz is off the table in my book. The trade has to be incredibly one-sided in the return for Schmaltz for me to budge.

Forsling has upside and a cheap salary. Murphy has either 2 or 3 years left and has some upside however trading him gains future cap space and rutta comes off the books after this season. I'd like to see the hawks have plenty of money to resign players and be big players in free agency getting a top 6 PANARIN or Duchene if available

This is pretty funny on NHL.com....not sure how to upload the images of the mannequins, go to site to see

https://www.nhl.com/news/...-for-practice/c-300966752

CHICAGO -- Nick Schmaltz had to do a double take.

The Chicago Blackhawks center glanced a few times at the two figures positioned near the bench at MB Ice Arena. He thought they were players.

They were mannequins, dressed in full Blackhawks practice uniforms. One had a helmet with No. 53 on it, the other No. 41.

"It's creepy when they're sitting on the wall there," Schmaltz said. "You catch yourself looking because you think it's an actual person. The first time I did, at least, so it's pretty funny."

The Blackhawks have started to use the mannequins at the end of their practices. They used one Friday, and added another, which wore sunglasses, on Monday. No one knows who put the glasses on the second mannequin, and neither mannequin has been named yet.

The second mannequin is wearing shades. Hey, this is what you do when you’re waiting for the room to open. #Blackhawks

Asked whose idea this was, coach Joel Quenneville credited assistant Ulf Samuelsson.

So Samuelsson owns these two?

"No, I don't think so," Quenneville said. "These guys are independent."

Odd as they are, the mannequins are useful in helping defensemen get shots through from the point and in screening goaltenders.

"I thought it was good. The guys actually stay in front of the net," goaltender Anton Forsberg said with a laugh. "It's good to have a couple of those out there to stay all the time. You don't want to hit your buddy in front of the net. You feel like they're holding back a little bit [on shots], which I understand. But with those it's good to go. You can hammer them as hard as you want."

Schmaltz said the mannequins help the forwards too.

"I think it's … they're out there just for seeing passes through," he said. "A 2-on-1 or something and you get a pass through a guy's skate and pick it up, it's kind of tough to do. You don't really get to work on that unless you're in a game. So stuff like that, shooting through it. Defensemen I think it's good for, getting pucks through lanes and through that initial forward up there. It's a little different."

It's also a little unnerving.

"They kind of creep me out," forward Alex DeBrincat said. "I see them in the training room, sometimes I think it's a real person dressed up over there. It's good to work on. It's tough to read [passes] through the skates, and I'm sure it's tough to see around the player. But it takes the injury aspect out of someone just standing there for shots for the goalie. I've never seen anything like it, but I think it's a pretty good idea."

Quenneville didn't address the second mannequin. He had a decent assessment of the first mannequin's second "practice."

"I thought he picked it up a little more today," he said. "He went from just OK to OK."

Kane can talk to Panarin to bring him back, and Toews will talk to his good Canadian buddy, Duchene about coming here. It's all good.

I could go for some Cheap Trick right about now ..... "Ain't That a Shame."

I know they didn't do it originally, but it's the best version.
