Yea but i think this is more of, i expect more effort from you, if Q is benching him then he's saying i don't think you are giving us 100%, and i have to agree because his penalty kill play along the boards was half ass the last game.
- BetweenTheDots

Well I agree with you, but I also think Q should be clear with Saad so he knows why he is being demoted.

This was going to be my question as well.

An awful lot of people make statements and speculate on this kind of stuff. Most of the time it is with a matter of fact tone.

That's how I interpreted Toews' comments related to the matter. Whether he was basing that on Saad's comments to him or whether his own experience, who knows?

My opinion on Saad is that right now he lacks heart and desire. He looks to have the same attitude my kids have when I try to wake them up in the morning for school. He is also putting forth the same effort they do to clean their room, they are not passionate about doing it so they just go through the motions.

Just going off this:

‘‘Nothing was said to me about a lineup change or anything like that,’’ Saad said. ‘‘You just come in, you see your jersey, you go out there and play.’’

On an NHL team, this is not the head coaches job. This is the assistant coaches job, and it is incumbent upon the player to seek that answer out. If Saad doesn't care enough to do that for himself, he has no one else to blame, and neither should we.

Who cares if he is benched on Thursday? Do you think Fortin is going to spend all year in the top six? I am impressed with his speed but I still think he will stay there not very long at all because if you think Saad has a hard time finishing......sit tight. So Saad needs to get his head together for when he gets another crack on the top 2 lines, where we only have 4 players that are really top 6 guys.

The one line i keep hearing from Q is we have to be better on 50 50 pucks. Over and over and over again, to me that says he does not believe all his players are giving it their all

The weak-minded Murphy who captained Team USA for the two seasons prior to Kane. That Murphy? Afraid you are outside the dots.
- Z3Hawk

Hahaha, i may be and Murphy might prove me wrong, which I'm all for, but i doubt it, weak minded people make excuses for things, which tells me they can't learn from their mistakes because their not the reason they are not succeeding. It's always someone else's fault.

BTW watched Kempny play a couple games this year, how long before they regret that contract term

Senators did a tribute ceremony for Ray Emery recently. Does anyone know if the Hawks are at some point? Or maybe they already did?

Quenneville has been disappointed with Saad’s play in ‘‘battle areas.’’ Whether it’s being willing to fight for the puck or being able to keep it on his stick and get to the net, Saad — who has no goals and two assists in five games — has been coming up short.

‘‘[Saad’s] mindset is what it is,’’ Quenneville said. ‘‘And I just think that whether it’s urgency or passion, I think coming up with more loose pucks in those areas is probably going to be the difference.’’

Is this just a wakeup call from a frustrated coach?

‘‘I’m assuming that’s what it is,’’ captain Jonathan Toews said. ‘‘But I guess I don’t really know where the coaches are coming from, so I’m not going to comment on that. But I think Saad has been doing some good things.’’

‘‘Things aren’t always going to go your way, but to be out of the lineup was a surprise today,’’ Saad said. ‘‘But it is what it is.’’

I realize that Saad has to "say the right thing" in that situation ... can't trash coach or team mates, but he strikes me as being too passive at times. Lately much more passive. He does need to play with more passion and sense of urgency. Needs to play like a power forward ... something the Hawks don't have a lot of. He does have good combination of speed and size but if you don't use it .......

I question the timing of this deal, did they really need to sign Entwistle now? Why could Stan have waited until the end of the season and sign him for less. What was the rush?
- DarthKane

I'm probably wrong, but my guess is that Rockford is light on forwards or want options, especially if the hawks plan on recalling more.

Don’t know this for sure, but I’d bet he’s going to remain with the Bulldogs in the OHL for now.

3 years at $925,000 per. There's not reason Stan couldn't have signed him for the league minimum ($650,000). That extra $275,000 will come back to haunt Stan and the Blackhawks.
- DarthKane

Now we'll never sign Panarin … I though Stan thought ahead, haha.

He's a good fourth line center, but terrible on the wing. He's alleviating the pressure off of Toews. Toews would do o zone and d zone draws plus pk and pp. That's a lot. Since we have a faceoff guy in the d zone like Kruger, one can say that this has helped in Toews's resurgence and can spend more time attacking the net. He doesn't have to spend so much time in the d zone on draws. He still does, but not as much. I think Justin said 95% d zone draws for Kruger.

All I know of is the statement that the hawks made when it happened, I don't think anything more has been done. I could be wrong.
