Chicago has agreed to terms with MacKenzie Entwistle on a three-year ELC

Obtaining Entwistle was a great get by Bowman. Gonna be a horse for the Hawks sooner than later.

I know Saad is the whipping boy at the moment, but he has been more snake-bitten than bad. I think we read a bit too much into his moving in the lineup and potential scratch. Yes, he can get going more, but puck luck has not been kind to him. The coaches will manage the team and get the most of the guys they have.

It is early in the year, and the Hawks haven't been hurting for goals. Saad might be one of those guys to pick up the slack when the Toews/Kane/DeBrincats of the world his a slump.

I know many get caught up in scoring, he's done a good job in front of the net, but i can't remember the last time he's won more board battles than he lost, a player who use to win many board battles to maybe 1 or 2 a game if he's lucky, to me that's lack of effort.

Could easily be winless so far this season. To be in our current position is a good feeling in itself! Hopefully this can continue. Too bad in some ways though - i had resigned myself to what the 'experts' had predicted, and a chance at the Jack Hughes sweepstakes.

Arent they though? A majority of our goals come from two players and one line. If there is secondary scoring, we might have a different start to the year without a single OT game.

I question the timing of this deal, did they really need to sign Entwistle now? Why could Stan have waited until the end of the season and sign him for less. What was the rush?

I mean in terms of scoring nearly 4.5 goals per game so far. The volume of goals isn't an issue. Yes, we want to see the scoring even out and it will, but I don't think it is so uncommon to see it like this over a 5 game span. They just need someone else to pick up the slack when the hot hands cool off.

An oral history, from the people who were there, of Q's appointment to the Blackhawks head coaching job. Yes, Scotty had something to do with it, but his role is downplayed in here.

Maybe it's a sign and trade! You know Bowman hates big physical players.

Could also be "lossless" - just as likely (altho both would be UNlikely).

Problem is not the current position - the problem is how much of it is sustainable.

About 3 goals per game from 3 players; one goal in five games from any other top-sixer.

Scoring 4+ per game - giving up the same. Giving up 35 SOG per game - save % at .879.

Better hope that the defensive stats there are not sustainable, because the offensive certainly aren't.

Agree here totally. On various occasions I’ve seen him attempt the chip and chase and lose the puck. He seems not as fast or not as willing to go through DMen to retrieve. But he definitely looks like he’s also lost confidence from not capitalizing on his chances like that SH breakaway or that scramble in front of the net where it went wide.

Over the summer it seems the Faulk possibilities ended when they wanted Saad as part of the deal. At least at that point, management expected Saad to have a better year. 5 games into the season, he seems to still be playing like last year’s Saad.

I just hope that it isn't a bickell like situation. saad's downfall is eerily similar thus far.

They will come up with a new clause just for his contract, with guaranteed minutes and linemates.

This article is a Hollywood script. Lips were much looser at the time it actually happened. The truth is Savard did not read the waters. It was known that Scotty Bowman was/is an ego-maniac. Savard refused to kneel and kiss the ring acknowledging Scotty as a coaching god. When Savard didn’t kneel his days were numbered. Tallon didn’t read the waters either. Scotty also moved on Tallon and lo and behold his SON Stan suddenly had/has Tallon’s job. Perfect.

That's what weak minded players say, that's why Murphy won't last long here.

The weak-minded Murphy who captained Team USA for the two seasons prior to Kane. That Murphy? Afraid you are outside the dots.

3 years at $925,000 per. There's not reason Stan couldn't have signed him for the league minimum ($650,000). That extra $275,000 will come back to haunt Stan and the Blackhawks.
