I think Forsling will replace Manning bc Gus does have good offensive skill that will keep in the lineup, despite his suspect D-zone play.
- EnzoD

I’m not so sure. If Forsling can provide the same offense and better D I’d get Gus out of there (at least to start).

Ward FFS stop the puck and just leave it behind the net, why is this so hard

The Hawks give up 2 PPG and which will put their PK near the bottom of the league. They PP is near the bottom as well.

While it's very exciting their underlining stats and play isn't sustainable... but hell it's exciting. Did I say that already?

Gustafsson should stay in the lineup for the reason you cite.

I will say though, he needs to start showing more of that offensive flare (nice OT pass aside) consistently is he's going to be a trip in his own end.

It looks like he's trying to play a better overall game. He's just not there yet.

It will be interesting when Forsling comes back... which should be next week if he continues to progress.

Idk if I want Manning or Rutta to sit. Forsling and Rutta were solid last year together for a bit.

I think he's trying to do it all himself right now, once he includes his teammates he'll be great again

There were 4 forward pairings on the ice for the Hawks in OT before Debrincat set foot on the ice. Is there any explanation for WHY he isn't one of the top 4 in OT. Kane , Toews, DeBrincat and Schmaltz should be the first 4 forwards to attack in OT. Anisimov should NEVER see the ice 3 on 3 unless we have possession and he's replacing a tired forward.

And anybody have a Saad sighting in the 3rd period ? He definitely did not see 3 on 3 time.

Forsling doesn't quite have the same offensive style (or at least doesn't show it because he doesn't take the risks Gus does) but the guy that might help the coaching staff if they wanted to sit Gus would be Jokiharju. Now on the 1st PP and has been showing a great outlet pass and shot from the point.

What offense is Gus providing when it costs you a goal or 2 a game, that just doesn't make sense to me unless he becomes a number 5dman otherwise no deal, hopefully he gets hot and they can get a nice draft pick for him

Saad was on the doorstep for one of the two on one breaks - didn't get a rebound though.

Couple other notes from tonight:

* Dominik Kahun - great offseason signing by Stan. The guy is a solid player and could prove to be really valuable as the season goes on.

* Brent Seabrook - I didn't hear anyone complain about him tonight. A quiet game tonight, which is a good thing. 20 TOI, 3 SOG and a couple hits.

* Marcus Kruger - looks like the old Krugs and is helping Toews out huge by taking those defensive draws. He was 54% tonight.

* Alex Fortin - another sneaky FA signing a few years ago by Stan. Not sure he will stick all year with the team but his speed and compete level is exactly what the Hawks need from him every night.

Yeah...rare against us. The Hawks got sticks on his shots attempts a lot. The defensive sticks were really better tonight.

I am too. Well, other than I have him on my fantasy team. But I'm ok with him not scoring tonight.

With his entire family in the crowd and playing his brother for the first time ever in the NHL... I thought Schmaltz would have had a better game. He did not look good out there to me.

Seabrook and Manning ended up with a huge number of PK minutes, over 5 minutes each. Keith was next with 1.5 minutes. I know the PK gave up two goals, but really one was a gift by Ward and the other one the Hawks got outnumbered on the boards and Ward probably would have wanted that one back.

Good. Forsling has a decent shot and can get it through. While not overly physical, he is smarter defensively, and make sure the smarter play. I’d much rather we have a D corps that doesn’t give the other team 4-5 prime chance s per game by throwing the puck to the other team in the middle of the ice.

At least he was good overall at the dot tonight. Toews was the low many on the totem pole for the Hawks tonight.

I thought he was solid. A bad penalty. He made some nice plays. He really doesn’t looks comfortable with Kane still at times. He will learn to shoot more. It took Kane 4-5 years to really start shooting the puck at a high level.

Kahun - wow he has some edge work so quick in tight corners don’t think he is full aclimated yet either.

Hayden - I cant figure him out looks solid with the puck, will lay hits, and has some moves but his turning is bad and he has a slow first step. Wouldn’t mind seeing Saad Anisimov Hayden. Dump it in and play down low cycle. Saad thrived with that style before. Anizmoce and Hayden can play that style.

I thought he was noticeable most of the time he was out there. He had one bad play, not getting that puck out, but he looked much more engaged and that line was pretty strong.

Remember when JJ spouted debrincat would be nothing special on the NHL level?

Pair that with trade Crawford for Craig Anderson for less than $2 mil in cap savings And you have some real gems

Yea but Toews was great again tonight, i wonder if he's been playing hurt the last 2 years, honestly that's impressive, i imagine something happened to his spine when he ran into the wall with the door open against the Blues a couple of years ago.
