Yeah, and then Kane gets mauled in the slot when he had an opportunity at a prime scoring chance. Just really bad from the refs. I've always hated how the NHL has to "Even things out" when one team is getting dominated.

That was a blatant penalty in a prime scoring chance. Shocked there was no call.

The Hawks need to tighten up for the 3rd but still play their game.

Don't worry the hawks have them right where they want them, i smell 3 on 3 hockey tonight
- BetweenTheDots

Feels like every game will be a roller coaster like that with their top 2 lines a threat to score and their suspect defenders when 2+28 aren’t on the ice.

Be nice if they called it both ways. They're really trying to keep this game from getting away from the Blues.
- Hawks_49

Jeez - 68% CF%; 36-15 SOG; 31-14 SC....

Against supposedly a not very good goalie.

Refs aren’t stopping them from actually putting the goal in the net.

The Hawks are keeping this close by their play.

Just kill the penalty, get a goal, and it's out of reach .... as long as they keep the lead.

Yeah. Just keep pushing the forecheck because they are really out playing the Blues in this one. Gotta get two in regulation tonight.

It’s clear hawks are the faster team officiating needs to even it up.

This statement is the absolute truth! Watching this game (or most NHL games) is like watching my kids middle school games. The refs will call the game based on the scoreboard (stats) rather than the actual play. Especially in basketball, they let one team travel and double dribble, just because they are losing big on the scoreboard. Yes, that is the way life is, evens out for everyone, right.
I would really like to see a coach talk about that in the postgame press conference: Yes, the refs really evened up the game, it was obvious. You all saw it.

Biggest difference I'm seeing from the D tonight, they are holding the offensive line well + standing up strong at their own blueline. This is something they didn't do effective over the last couple of years.

I like the overall team defence as well. Fortin with a strong backcheck before Schmaltz got that penalty in that period (which will get him in the good books with Q). Also, Debrincat had a nice defensive play earlier in the game as well. Those two plays stood out.

While we want to pile it on the defence ever night, but it's a team effort and it's been much better tonight.

Bad enough Minny got points, not Stl. Too many divisional games when they should not get any points. That will matter as the season draws to a conclusion.

Starting to like Manning as a 6th Defenseman on this team. He is not super skilled, but he plays hard. Not saying he is great, but he is starting to wear on me some.

I've been stating your last paragraph a lot, nice to hear another voice. Fortin is looking good on both sides of the puck. That top line looks great again, just want one of those chances to get finished behind Allen.

Rutta looks better with only 9 minutes of ice time, Gusto looks terrible passing the puck, just awful tonight, my favorite play of his when he's in the offensive zone with the puck by him a forward comes flying by and just takes the puck in the other direction with no problem

Hard to score when the goalie can see all the pucks, we don't really have a high end sniper so.....

Fortin needs to stay and Martinsen needs to go back to captaining Rockford.

Gustafsson has a bad habit of making bonehead passes in the d-zone like passing it to a guy that is covered and can't do anything with the puck when it gets to him - essentially it ends up being a turnover in the d-zone. He had another bonehead pass in the first minute of the game that gave a Blues player a shot 20 feet in front of the net. He makes a nice play every now and then but his bad defensive plays outweigh what ever good stuff he does.

Toews is having a rough night at the dot... 6/17 (35%). Very rare for him but that's a testament to him going against on of the best faceoff guys in the league in O'Rielly (12/16 - 75%)

Yep. He's been good. Steady.

As mentioned above, Rutta has been better with his ice time limited.

Gustafsson looks bad. When he gets rattled, it's not pretty. He needs to reel it in.
