The leafs have great depth on cheap contracts: Kapanen, Brown, Hyman, Dermott, Liligren, Sandin... even Kadri and Reilly to an extent for what they provide. Pair that with a few discount veterans who want a chance to win and the Leafs will be just fine.

Yes. The Leafs cant win beyond this year because they have good players who deserve to get paid. What a horrible problem for the team. Everyone knows you win by having lesser talent and alot of cap space.

Matthews may or may not be quite as great as McDavid but you know what who cares, he will still be an elite superstar. Get Nylander signed and trade Kadri and Gardiner for a really good D-man....Nylander can then get his center job

Every fan base has "those fans" we saw a lot of it from Isles fans over the summer for reasons we are still unsure of...

The reality is the leafs and their fans get a disproportionate amount of hate and it isn't even close. We were ridiculed and laughed at when we sucked and now that we are good the hate has only increased.

I certainly did not....haven't seen that or even thought about that since the 60's

Max contract for Matthews is what he deserves - 8 x $17M based on an $85M salary cap.
McDavid signed almost 2 years ago now and took a big hometown discount. Matthews should hold out till he gets what he's worth, just like Nylander.
