Gagne tried coasting through.

I like that young players entering the draft can pass vets a lot sooner. They get paid very good money so if you coast you will be passed.

Next time Canucks put someone on waivers, I sure hope they do it, the right way.

I was promoted in May and my first job was to fire a guy. I don't like doing it or seeing anyone lose there job but I still do it myself and look the guy in the eye and tell him why.

You mean like trading Sedins Edler Tanev back then?

NTC/ NMC and loyalty were a big reason the team did not start a rebuild back in 2013.

It is a beaten dead horse. So many things have handcuffed the Canucks.

- VANTEL

That was the start for me, the writing was on the wall, they should've stripped the team down back then. Trading for Gudbranson and Sutter was a huge mistake. But whatever, they didn't.

The point is Gagner did not get fired . He is still under employment of the Canucks , he can still be recalled by the Canucks. He was demoted or assigned a new station call it what you want but he was not fired. He was waived.

It means he was not good enough. When he is bough out this coming summer I am sure Jim will call him in the office so he doesn't have hurt feelings.

Gagner's "special treatment" to play in Toronto has just as much to do with a roster jam in Utica as it does with his wishes to play closer to home. Some of our top young guys can't even get into games in Utica so far.

And we'll agree to disagree regarding Jim's handling of the situation. As someone who manages a team of people, all I can say is that I would have handled a demotion differently and I would have spoken to the person directly, not delegated it.

I also manage a large group that directly report to me and it is my responsibility to interact directly with them, and I have reassigned several people over the years, not once, never ever, has a Director stepped up and said, Hey Makita let me personally have a discussion with the person you are reassigning.

They traded for the Big Tough Dman right around when the game was changing to speed. The timing for that trade could not have been more wrong.

Sutter has showed over and over he is still needed on this club through the transition but hey feel free to hate him .

According to Gagner it was the middle of the season so it was different. I guess sucking at the beginning of the year is different than sucking in the middle.

Have heard from the #Canucks regarding Gagner saying he was informed by his agent he was cut. Jim has talked with Gagner and his agent this morning. There was communication between Green, Benning and Gagner from the beginning.

“He could have [practiced],” Hextall said. “It’s a difficult day for the kid. So we felt it was the right thing to do, tell him he did not have to practice. Take the day to get your head together.”

Well there ya go.

Gagner is understandably salty that he’ll be riding AHL buses this entire season.

It's the draft picks they spent to acquire them that's the issue for me. They're were trying to be competitive instead of rebuilding.

They gave up McCann, 33rd, 55th, 94th picks, Bonino and Forsling via Clendenning to acquire those two.

You're awesome, I didn't report anything, I shared a quote Gagner said he wasn't told by the Canucks he'd been waived, he was waived ten days ago and the Canucks are once again doing damage control so Benning called him THIS MORNING ten days later

He said, she said, lol.

Not surprising. So final word went to his agent, it's not like you didn't have multiple conversations/oppertunity. You didn't perform, beat it!
